An offshoot of the thread about Disney's bombs. So what do you think? The Adventures of Pluto Nash? Gigli? What's your list of the biggest movie bombs ever (and how many of them star Eddie Murphy)?

Either be Cutthroat Island or Pluto Nash.

Definitely not
Cutthroat Island, that's one of my favorite guilty pleasures. Love Matthew Modine and Geena Davis in that one.
Biggest turkeys (bombs) I can think of include:
The Adventures of Pluto Nash
Gigli
Skyline
and all of the Ernest movies ("goes to jail, saves Christmas, etc.)

Waterworld immediately springs to mind - huge budget, minimal return, cheesy film.
Pluto Nash is another good example, or the oft forgotten "comedy",
Ishtar.

It may be an enjoyable film (for some), but with a budget of nearly $100 million and a box office total of a mere $10 mil, it was undoubtedly a box office disaster. Remember, the topic is "Biggest bombs", not "Worst films".

Motherhood. It made less
$100 on its opening weekend.

I'm using bomb as in box office bombs. Sure I thought the film was okay, but it failed at the box office causing Carolco to close down completely.

What about Leonard part 6 (Worst film i've ever seen since i was a kid), Dune and Heaven's Gate? those were bombs as well.

Of course, we can't forget the brilliant acting tour-de-force that was "Showgirls"!

Congo - Crichton's book was great, but what the hell did they do with the movie?

Again, another which I am sure did not fail in the theaters, but failed as a movie. Day of the Dead. The movie that was so bad everyone loved it.

And of course there's Cleopatra. Biggest film of its year, but it still lost so much money that nearly bankrupted 20th Century Fox (which was only saved by The Sound of Music).
Cleopatra.....visually stunning but SOOOO slow-moving.

Hey now! First of all, the Ernest films are great (at least the earlier theatrical ones.) Even the later direct to video titles have their moments, although they get pretty cheesy.
Anyway, the Ernest films weren't bombs in the monetary sense of the word... The first four (Camp, Christmas, Jail, Scared Stupid) were made cheaply (3-4 million), and made 15-30 million each at the box office.

OK, Leonard Part 6 counts as a box office bomb, however it is pretty funny! If you go into it expecting a bad movie, you might find yourself laughing with it, instead of at it.

Howard the Duck shouldn't be mentioned in the same sentence with Battlefield Earth!! Sure, they both bombed at the box office, but Howard has gained quite the cult following!
Battlefield Earth on the other hand, was MADE by a cult following!
A. The film sucked as a film (my friend saw it with me, he hadn't read the book, but he hated the film.)
B. The adaption of the (good) novel was horrendous!!
C. John Travolta is a wack job!
D. John Travolta is a wack job!

If any of you guys have the Chiller channel you'd have tons to pick from. The movies aren't even scary but rather funny because they're really low budget & the acting... well the disney movie cartoon characters are better actors. They are entertaining though! I'd say Cabin Fever 2: Spring Fever is a bomb! Funny... but the movie is not supposed to be! haha

I should think so. There's a reason Disney character animation is so well-regarded.
