Excalibur is one of my favourite movies of all time and I was happy to hear it was coming to blu-ray. But after the disasters with T2 and Predator, I'm a bit worried as to the picture quailty. Does anyone know of the situation with the grain and detail ? Are there any HQ screengrabs anywhere that I could look at ?

"Excalibur" has been out for some time now on Blu-ray, and I don't know how to do pix on the internet or I could show you since I have a Blu-ray player now in my computer.

The film looks beautiful in Blu-ray and I haven't noticed any graininess, but I don't look for that when I am watching a movie. It pleases me and I am glad that I have it in my Blu-ray collection.

Actually, "Excalibur" just came out this week on Blu-ray. From what I can tell online, it's generally agreed that while the picture is a little soft, it's accurate to what the movie should be. It won't be demo material, but it looks much better than the old DVD.

To do a screencap on your computer, just find a frame that you'd like to keep. Pause the movie and wait for any pointers or controls to disappear. Next, press the Print Screen button. Then, paste the picture into a picture viewing program. For instance, I use Irfanview. Then, save the picture and post it online.

Sounds like too much work. Besides I don't understand anything that you said. I am really technology-challenged, so please don't take offense. I would have to have someone personally sitting beside me showing me how to do it before I wold feel comfortable doing it. Sorry.

But, on the side of "Excalibur", don't know what SHJ means by "soft", I think the picture looks wonderful and is sharp and vivid where it needs to be. The soundtrack is just incredible and adds a lot to the enjoyment of this film.
