Due to Drop in Ratings, Nick Returns Classic Lineup

Teenagers can finally rejoice because they now will be receiving what they have been talking about for years. For awhile now teens have been wishing that Nickelodeon will finally put their favorite cartoons back on the air and now their wish will come true.

Starting March 14, 2011, Nickelodeon will go back into the studios to produce new episodes for classic cartoons such as: Rocket Power, Doug, Rugrats, Hey Arnold, the Angry Beavers, and many more.

Cyma Zarghami, who runs the television station was quoted saying, “We have noticed a significant drop in ratings since our show from the late 1990’s. We have strayed from our cartoons and we believe that was our biggest mistake. We have contacted the producers from these shows and we were able to work out a deal to get them back to making new episodes.”

It is not known whether or not the shows will try to create new concepts for the characters, or if they will pick up from where they left off years ago. Rumors have been circulating that the kids in the shows have now aged and will be moving on with their lives. For instance, the gang from Rocket Power now have taken the leap into their teenage years and now attend high school in Ocean Shores, or Arnold and his pals from Hey Arnold, have now moved on from elementary school to middle school in New York.

Whatever new ideas they bring to the table they will be welcomed with open arms and hopefully they can remove the bad taste in our mouths from terrible shows that are on Nick now like iCarly, Big Time Rush, and TUFF Puppy.

Zarghami has not stated if the shows will be brought back full time or if it is making a comeback for a limited time to revitalize the Nickelodeon networks poor reputation in the new Millennium for cartoons and other shows. After the last episode of Rocket Power was aired, kids thought the only hope for Nickelodeon was Spongebob Squarepants but even that once great cartoon has had its own fall from grace.

Teenagers have wanted to show kids now-a-days what a real cartoon is made of but never had the evidence to convince these pups. Starting next month; these kids are in for the surprise of their lives.

YYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!

Ehhhh, but they wont be the same and as good as the old episodes, no? :)

But, they dont have a source for it, plus there aren't any commericals for it, soooo...I'm not getting my hopes up.

They say they will make more Doug? Disney still has the rights to new Doug projects, Jim Jenkins has said so! I could see them bringing Rugrats back since they have done it more than once before but I highly doubt any other would.

Edit: Somebody at the ToonZone.net forums posted this and it was shut down for being a fake by a Mod in less than 10 mins.

I wish that had been at the top, before the excerpt. That really got my hopes up just to crash and burn.

Still, I'm not sure if it would help, even if it were true. Most of those shows seemed to go down the drain at the end. Rugrats, in particular, sucked after Kimi was introduced. And I kind of stopped watching Arnold and Beavers near the end. Never watched Doug though.

Besides, how could they get the same creative teams/voice actors for a reboot not to fail?

Yeah, um... I don't think this article is real. There's no legitimate source.

Yea, I looked the source up...it was by a high school newspaper. :|

Apparentelly, this might be the source that's starting the rumors:

Not to mention that it READS like a high school newspaper article. I know little about Cyma Zargham or Nick's ratings, but isn't iCarly like one of highest rated children's shows on the air right now? I can't imagine that Nick is struggling for viewers, and I also can't imagine that Ms. Zargham would inadvertently seek to insult the people working on their money-making shows now by suggesting that they are all inferior to their older programs (whether they are or aren't is a different matter).

Really, it just reads like a child of the 90s having an article wank, especially the whole "teenagers want to show kids what GOOD cartoons are like!" which is an argument I always found hilarious. Everyone older than anyone else believe that their generation had the best of anything, and I always get a kick out of teenagers sounding like crotchety old senior citizens about this sort of thing.

And yet, Nick could do worse. Their current line-up is not the strongest it has ever been. That said, they did try new "Rugrats" in the form of "All Grown Up" and it sucked!

Speaking of Doug, I wish Disney would release their show and film on DVD!

GUEEEEESSSS WHAT!?! IT'S TRUE!

http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases ... 54818.html

Only:
*It's on TeenNick
*And thank God, there'll be no new episodes. The new ones would screw up the shows!

Well, at least the shows will be back on the air.

But I wouldnt have minded new episodes so long as the only thing changed for any of them is the year.

Excluding the live action (Kenan & Kel and All That was on TeenNick all last year), they already show classic Nick around midnight on Nicktoons Network (well, they show Ren & Stimpy, Rugrats, Rocko's Modern Life, Action League Now, Cat Dog, Invader Zim and they just quite showing Rocket Power last year). I remember when Nicktoons Channel (as it was then known) was launched, it only showed classic Nick, no new stuff. It also didn't have commercials but instead filled the gaps with animated shorts. It used to be great. Now it only shows cheap flash animated Canadian cartoons, the new crappy Nicktoons and crappy Marvel cartoons to help aim the channel towards boys. Supposedly Nick tested some classic Nick shows during the daytime, to see how the rating would be, and they ended up getting better ratings then the rest of their lineup lol Now they show Invader Zim and Ren & Stimpy during the day, to boost ratings. It's a shame what they did to this once great channel (it used to also show Angry Beavers, Doug, Aaahh!!! Real Monsters, Hey Arnold, etc.).

I also remember that they were supposed to change Nick GAS into Nickelodeon Rewind. Nickelodeon Rewind channel was supposed to be a channel dedicated to classic Nicktoons from the 90s, and it would even have the classic bumpers in-between. Supposedly they lost the budget for this new channel and ended up just splitting part of Noggin off to become The N (which was supposed to get it's own channel). It's a shame nothing ever came of it, considering how popular CartoonNetwork's Boomerang is.

Anyways, Nickelodeon Rewind is currently the brand name they're selling their classic Nicktoons DVDs under and according to this anonymous and unreliable Wiki post, it's a new Nicktoons programming block premiering this summer:

"These shows along with others will appear to be main shows on Nicktoons Rewind. Nicktoons Rewind is coming to Nicktoons in the summer of 2011. It is a block that makes all of the old cartoons come on the channel in a earlier time slot. For example it will not be on at 4:00 in morning anymore. They will be on in the evening as well as the afternoon. Some of the rewind shows are Doug, Rocko's Modern Life, Aaahh!!! Real Monsters, Hey Arnold, CatDog and many more original cartoons from the 90's and the early 2000s."

We'll see what happens.

Yeah, I think the only thing aside from the old cartoons I watch on Nicktoons now is Avatar and I have the whole series on DVD anyway.
