The Jungle Book has been voted the best-loved animated movie of all time.
The 1967 film beat recent movies like Toy Story, Finding Nemo, The Lion King and Shrek in a poll of 3,500 film fans.
Well, I'm not sure I agree (I think the film lacks focus at points) but it's good to see it beating the more modern films! (Personally, I'd have gone for Cinderella for "best-loved")

Wow...best-loved of all-time? It's a great film, but better than Sleeping Beauty, The Lion King, The Little Mermaid?
Not in my opinion.
But you know what they say about opinions ....

I've always *liked* Jungle Book, but it was never one of my favorites that I loved. However, I do remember watching it a million times (ok, maybe that's an exaggeration) when I was little, but not because I wanted to. And it seems like every dance recital I was ever in, the little 3 year old class always did a dance and sang a long to "Bare Necessities," and that was about 3 different dance schools, always doing the same thing! We even played it in our high school marching band in the stands at football games!! Can you believe that?! I suppose, maybe among the "common folk" it is the most loved.

But I do agree, it is nice to see an older film getting some recognition.

Well Donkey from "Shrek" is the third best animated character of all time, according to THESE people...

Oh well... YES, I do like THE JUNGLE BOOK. I absolutely adore the animation. And I am in love with the soundtrack. However, to me it is not the most important or loved animated film. I have special feelings towards pieces such as Snowwhite, Fantasia, Beauty and the Beast and Bambi to name very few before Jungle...
You can tell I wasn't part of that poll.
Still...

I can't wait for a double cd release of this title on DVD...

Well, I am in total agreement.
Jungle Books is my number one too.
It did not say where my number one animated character landed though - Marvin the Martian deserves more respect.

Jungle Book was fun, but didn't have much of a story at all. I prefer almost any other animated title (except for the dark ages) to JB.

"The Jungle Book" is not my no. 1 animated film, but it certainly ranks in the top 10. Besides the great music, it also boatsts some spectacular visulas... The waterfall shot in the prologue is breathtaking IMO. It's such a shame it was the last great animated film until 1989...

Although not my #1 favourite, I would call Cinderella the best-loved Disney film.

I never really used to pay much attention to Cinderella, maybe cuz I am a guy...I don't know. I always watched it as a kid, but never thought much of it. A couple months ago tho, I pulled it out and gave it a play. Wow! I completely forgot that magic of it all! The mice completely make that movie in my opinion. Disney use to make some truly special/magical supporting characters!

Hee hee hee....
This is one of those things Ernest Rister would have a lot to say about
Obviously, it is one of those subjective things - it is "most loved", not "objectively best", and you don't know who the majority of voters were there.
For all we know, it could have been an internet poll and a Jungle Book fan site was alterted to it...

My point is, we don't know who did the voting 9yeah, it was Blockbuster users, but you get the idea).
An interesting selection to be sure... would have felt sure Lion King would top the poll, given that Blockbuster would be plugging that pretty hard at the moment.
Jungle Book wouldn't have been my choice, nor would it have been an obvious one to me, but I CAN see why people liked it. Strange though - the movie that topped the poll is not actually on DVD - at least not in print...

I would think it would have to go to Cinderella. If for no other reason that the castle that so many people associate with Disney.
