A source for Ain't-It-Cool-News attended a Walt Disney Feature Animation presentation in Rotterdam where the studio revealed it is working on The Wild. Here's a few clips on the project...

It's a computer-animated feature called 'The Wild' and it's due for release in the early summer of 2005. For this film, the mouse-factory has teamed up with San Francisco-based Complete Pandemonium and some Canadian company called Core Technologies. 'The Wild' is being directed by Steve 'Spaz' Williams, who some of you might know from those damn funny Blockbuster-hamster commercials. Williams also worked on that 'Spawn'-movie, but I guess everybody makes mistakes.

According to Disney-lady, 'The Wild' follows the adventures of Ryan (at least, I think his name was Ryan) - a teenage Lion living in the New York Zoo. The ideas Pandemonium has for this zoo are actually pretty cool. When all the visitors and staff have left, the zoo kinda becomes a Michael Sowa-esque fantasy world, where Giraffes and Elephants play turtle-curling (yes, it's pretty funny) and young creatures run amok. After chasing some harmless animals, Ryan accidentally gets trapped inside a crate and is shipped to Madag- I mean, just plain Africa. A group of zoo-heroes team up to save young Ryan. The team consists of an older lion (I believe his name was Samson), a female giraffe named Bridgette, an Anaconda with a brain the size of a pea, a little squirrel who has a huge crush on Bridgette (hilarity ensues) and a Koala who hates being called 'cute'.
What do you guys and gals think about it? I'm not sure it's gonna be a hit, but it's too soon to say that for sure. Just speculating. The plotline sounds uhm, interesting

Can't wait!

Though, I have a hunch I'll be missing hand-drawn animation regardless of how good it is...

so this is the Disney's answer to Dreamworks' Madagascar??...hummm, sounds cool!! those animals will be so fun to se, specially the koala who may be kinda acid.

but why didn't heard anything of this movie before?? if it is due to be released next year, they have been worked on it at least since two years ago. I wonder if it will be an animated classic, cause Chicken Little is gonna be out next year too...

Yeah, from what I have been hearing Chicken Little is due summer 2005, and Pixar's Cars will be in the fall...unless Disney plans to release Chicken Little in the spring, The Wild in the summer, and Cars in the fall.

To me, it just sounds like Toy Story with animals. The plot is identical - the setting & characters change. Not very original at all, but it may be enjoyable.

Core Technologies is owned by Star Trek's very own Captain Kirk, William Shatner... and Disney has an eye on acquiring the company in the near future...

Nah, I don't think so. That was about an elephant who became a nightclub star, and it was going to be 2-D (unless I'm mistaken).

Then again, you might have been joking. In that case . . . :P

Hmmm. Loooks like a really great Disney Movie. I can't wait to see it. It sounds like it is going to be really neat. I am glad to see that Disney is still making great animated movies!

ANOTHER 3D project in the next few year? Geez, they are really churning them out aren't they? My main concern is that nobody will care amongst the plethora of releases to . It isn't economically viable to produce only one picture a year, I know, but there WAS something special about a Disney picture "event"....

Just what I have always dreamed of...the marriage of Shatner to Disney :D

I was always a fan of computer animated movies. I guess this one might okay, but they make too many animal based movies. I'm not REALLY complaining. I love they're AB (animal based) movies and I always will. They just make too much.:PThe plot sounds kinda corny, but it's disney! So it has to be funny/kinda corny/adventurus!
