I want a dvd of Disney's trailers NOW!

Dear Disney Enthusiasts

I cannot believe that when I already owned the old dvd versions of both "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" AND "Beauty and the Beast", I used my own money to purchase the new dvd versions of both of those movies, only to discover that THERE'S NOT A BLOOMIN' MOVIE TRAILER IN SIGHT!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I am a pop history buff, and I LOVE being able to see the various re-release trailers for movies. I still have the old dvds of "Snow White" and "BatB" around the house, but I am outraged that even the original trailers weren't included in the new dvd releases of those movies.

I don't think that the inclusion of such trailers would be wasted on any dvd audience, and I think that if The Disney Company isn't gonna include trailers on their new dvds, they should allow us to buy a dvd/ dvd sets which would include trailers, t.v. spots, "Movie Surfer" episodes, tie-in commercials (Ie: McDonald's, toys, etc.) etc. I'd use my own money for such a dvd/ dvd set if I had to, because that's how much I love those old Disney trailers!

Why would such a dvd release be valuable to people? Well, some kids might want to see some of the trailers. Their parents, and their grandparents, might want to see the trailers that they enjoyed when THEY were kids. I'd personally enjoy being able to study the marketing techniques that were utilized throughout the years. I've also gotta admit that the 1993 trailer for "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" is my favorite "SWatSD" trailer; I watched that movie in a theatre for the first time during its 1993 rerelease, so that trailer is extra special to me.

Who else would love for The Disney Company to release their movie trailers on dvd?

I'm thinking that such a dvd set might include the following dvds:

* Classics to Remember (1946 through 2005): Trailers and T.V. Spots for the Live-Action/ Live-Action and Animated Disney Classics that You Remember!

* Animated Clasics to Remember (1937 through 2005): Trailers and T.V. Spots for the Animated Disney Classics that You Remember!

* T.V. Classics to Remember (1955? through 2005): Advertisements for Disney's Memorable T.V. Movies!

Thank you in advance for your replies.

Wait- you found trailers for... (hold on)

I can't find anything for The Aristocats or Robin Hood. Found one for Dumbo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=22v-1eMIl40 . Fantasia's been up for awhile : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SG_fTGNbmk8 . Nothing for Peter Pan.

YouTube is great for the cartoon shorts, but nobody has the trailers. I don't know where on EARTH they got Fantasia and Dumbo from. But- search for anything Sword and the Stone, Jungle Book, or the films mentioned above and you can forget about it. Just ads from the 80's up to now. And the trailers Disney gives us.

A history of Disney promotional materials set? Could be cool, a DVD of just trailers? Maybe include some of the promotional Disneyland tv episodes for the different movies. I recall, when I was a kid, seeing a promo short on tv for The Black Cauldron that showed them making the sound effects. They took cooked macaroni and squeezed it out of a rubber glove for the sound of zombies coming out of the ground. Haven't seen it since then but I would like to see things like that on a set like this.

In the early/mid-80's, the original (Walt) Disney Channel created a great special that they would air from time to time entitled "Coming Your Way" that showcased an hours worth of classic WDP theatrical trailers, both original and reissue, animation and live-action - - hosted by Annette!

I was disappointed that the latest Pinocchio DVD had only three trailers, including the original.

I wanted to see how the film was marketed in each decade.

I really enjoy the trailers from the VHSs, mainly for nostalgic reasons. I always found those trailers to be fun.

I believe the first Dumbo DVD had a trailer, and the original general release trailer and 1990 reissue trailers for Fantasia were included on the bonus disc in the box set.

Wasn't there once such a dvd? Or maybe only in Holland/Europe?

I can remember it because a lot of people was outraged to buy it (not people from here), to spend money for just trailers.

I'll try to look it up....

Yes, but that dvd only contains a dvd trailer for each of the animated classics (like the usual sneek peeks on dvd's) not the theatrical trailers. Had it contained the original theatrical trailer for each animated classic, it would have been interesting.
I do own it though, got it for free with Chicken Little at the time. It is somehow fun to have a preview of each film on one disc. Just a pity that the trailers seem randomly chosen. Some are quite good and lenghty, where Snow White for example gets the 2001 platinum trailer which is very short and doesn't show much of the film.

Oh, I'm sorry...didn't know that. Midleading title it is then.

I've seen it every now n then in stored, but never considered it worth buying, since most dvds do own their trailers, as far as I remember. Or well, some versions of movies do and some don't. Ah well.

Maybe rip all the trailers from the dvds you own and make your own dvd trailers collection...:)

I bought Snow White Diamond Edition on DVD too and was also VERY disappointed with the lack of a trailer (and other features, in general). That's when I started thinking that Disney is trying to starve customers out of special features to get them to buy BluRay. Does anyone know if the BluRay has the trailer?

Sounds good to me. :) I love watching the old trailers and seeing how they evolve (or devolve) through the years. As long as the DVDs would be moderately priced, I'd be interested.

In the 80's, a company put together a set of videos that was nothing but Disney movie trailers and ads. I believe it was called Dazzling Disney Collection of Previews and came out with 6 or 8 tapes for the whole set.

The company would later be forced to remove these from the shelves due to copyright issues. The company tried to defend itself by saying the trailers had gone to public domain, but Disney pointed out they still had a copyright on the characters in the trailers.

Worse part about these tapes? The Host was an irritating hamster dressed up in a Michael Jackson outfit. If you can find the tapes and convert them to dvd, I suggest skipping his parts! :-)

Oh...It's 100 percent official...but as someone said...it only has the trailers to promote the dvds. I also has a booklet with a checklist to see which movies you still need.

It's not available anymore, though sometimes I still spot it in stores.
One seller on Ebay.nl is also selling it, from whom I also bought some other disney dvds and it's all real, no fakes or bootlegs.

He's selling it for 5 euro, around 7 dollar or something?
