Stephen Colbert had Stephen Sondheim, the legendary voice of modern musical theater and too many huge masterpieces and classics of it, on his show.
And Colbert jokingly asked Sondheim, "Now, all of these musicals that you wrote, they were originally Disney animations, correct?"
To which Sondheim responded, first with a little laugh, "We would like them to be."

There's also some stuff about how Sondheim came to be the musical master he was, and so if you have interest in him, interest in musical theater, or interest in how to become a great musical writer, check out the episode! There's even talk of Oscar Hammerstein's teaching!
