God, I miss the DVDSpot website...

DVDAf is fantastic, but gosh I still miss DVDSpot. That site was so much fun to play around on, and showcased one's movie collection brilliantly. The ability to search via actor, director; to keep track of movies you've loaned out or recently watched. Not to mention a very simple way to upload new additions.
I'll never understand why DVDSpot closed when it was perhaps the MOST popular free DVD catalogue service on the net.

It didn't close it was bought out by a company that changed its name and is now charging outrageous fees to use the site.

I'll be supportive of all here who wanna have a good cry that it's gone. I did like the way members' profiles looked (I was really attached to my photo of Stephen Colbert too).
But one thing I'll never miss is how bad their images looked. They were terrible. Very low quality.

I've gotten used to DVDAf, and it does what I need great. Although I miss DVDSpot too. In my opinion it was the best site to keep track of your collection.

Does anyone else use Listal http://www.listal.com? It's a free site too and you can catalog not only your Blu-ray/DVD collection, but music, games, books, TV shows, etc. Plus, you can make lists of the movies you've seen, but don't own.
It has some cool features, like compiling lists of your most watched actors, directors, etc. Plus there are profiles for almost every actor showing their stats, filmography, etc. I've been using Listal for more than a year and really like it. It's very user friendly and you can upload your own images if you don't like the cover art that is there, etc.
I was surprised that no one else uses it, everyone seems to stick with DVDAf.

I did try Listal for a while, but found it was too darn fiddly when trying to add or delete items. Sometimes it didn't "take" for some reason, and I haven't used the site in ages.

I also made an account there but it was too hard for me to search. I guess I'm just fine with DVDaf for now.

Yes, that was quite fiddly as well. In a perfect world I'd still have my beloved DVDSpot, but DVDAf covers most of my bases (even though around 10% of my collection remains unaccounted for there).

What did 'Spot do that 'Af doesn't / can't?
Been so long since I went there.

The ability to search for movies in your collection with a specific actor/actress, keeping track of discs you've loaned out; a profile page which displays titles you've recently purchased and watched. It was a thousand times easier to add new titles too.
