All of the Hayley Mills ones (preferably in a box-set); "Bedknobs and Broomsticks", "Mary Poppins", "The Happiest Millionaire", "Darby O'Gill and the Little People", "Swiss Family Robinson"; and "Freaky Friday" (The Freakiest Ever Edition with new interviews with Jodie Foster, Barbara Harris, Charlene Tilton, Ruth Buzzi and Kaye Ballard).

I personally don't think films from Walt's era should be remastered into Hi Def. For modern films to be is one thing, but I think for older films, it actually messes up the film. I can see a Blu Ray release happening sooner or later for these films, it is just a matter of time, but I think a better use of that space is to just make two disk DVD's into one disc Blu Rays, maybe with new extras. Heck, a great idea would be to take film series (sequels and remakes) and put them all on one disc!

But, considering how gung ho people are today about making everything Hi Def, I think the first 10 "Walt-era" films should be the following:

Song of the South (not likely, but the question is what I think should be)

20,000 Leagues Under the Sea

Old Yeller

The Shaggy Dog

Darby O'Gill and the Little People

Pollyanna

Swiss Family Robinson

The Absent-Minded Professor

The Parents Trap

Marry Poppins

For an eleventh (as I doubt "Song of the South" would be released), I'd say "Summer Magic." That would be my list.

I don't get what you're saying. Motion picture film is higher resolution than HD; if anything "messes up the film" it's sacrificing image quality and detail for DVD presentation.

Give me Treasure Island, 20,000 Leagues, Swiss Family Robinson, and Mary Poppins and I'd be satisfied...plus the stuff from the Tomorrowland Treasures collection.

Mary Poppins (it most likely will come eventually anyway)
Bedknobs and Broomsticks
20,000 Leagues Under the Sea
The Parent Trap
Freaky Friday
Pollyanna
Swiss Family Robinson
Pete's Dragon
Treasure Island (if only for being Walt's first full live-action film)
Old Yeller

And of course, there's that certain movie about Uncle Remus, but it's not as though it's gonna happen.

I'm not restricting myself to the Walt years, I don't play by rules (I'm a rebel, just like Pee Wee Herman).

My first choice is my favorite Disney film as a kid (at least for a few months) :

The rest:

Actually, I think older films benefit substantially from remastering in hi-def, as the negatives still contain so much detail - - especially widescreen epics and large format movies - - and films with highly detailed production design.

I think "Swiss Family Robinson" would be perfect choice for Blu-Ray in that the Panavision location shooting on Tobago is lovely, along with the animals and treehouse details, it's the perfect sort of film to benefit from greater resolution.

You do know that since the original films had a higher resolution than a DVD, they aren't "making" it high-def, they're presenting them closer to their original form, right?

And I don't know how anyone could make the argument that "The Wizard of Oz" was "messed up" when it was released on Blu-ray.

Well, there's what I might want and then there's what will happen.

Studios are amazingly predictable with catalog releases. Just go back to the first ten on VHS, compare it to DVD and there's your BR list. When you get to a list of a hundred, you start to see variance, but for the first ten? Forget it. They always stick with their tried and true.
