So, I'm interested in finally getting the classic Rankin Bass tv special, "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer," on DVD. My question is, of all the various versions of it on DVD, which is the best? Which is the best version of the film? Which has the best bonus features? I tried reading reviews on Amazon, but didn't find much. From what I have seen, it seems like the 2002 version on DVD is the best, maybe? Any good help would be useful. Thanks.

There's a recent Vivendi/Classic Media release which is a re-release of the 2004 or 2007 release with different cover and disc art. That release features a better transfer than the 2002 release (at least to my knowledge), but it loses the Arthur Rankin intro for 2 music videos. My advice, get both; the 2010 re-release for the better transfer and the 2002 release for the Arthur Rankin interview.

Also, here's a comparison between the 2002 release and the Blu-Ray release:

Thanks by the way. I went with the 2002 DVD (it was really cheep) but I may or may not get the Blu Ray one day. HD isn't as big a deal to me as it is to most. If I did, it would be more because of my wife.
