Blue castle opening screen

Is Disney removing this from all of the new re releases? I was watching Oliver & Company earlier and noticed that the soundtrack starts the moment the blue castle screen comes on. There are also other films that have a variation of the castle opening screen like Tarzan, Atlantis, Lilo & Stitch. I'm interested to see how they will incorporate the new 3D castle logo if they are are removing it from their films. I'm actually a big fan of the blue logo and the music that accompanies it. I don't know if all the changes they are making are for the better...

i don't think they'll ever leave the castle out from their films, it's Disney's trademark/ logo for years when it comes to movies etc...
They will adjust it so it will fit in 3D or what ever more of technologie will come around

I wasn't impressed when the blue castle logo was removed for the Diamond "Beauty and the Beast". Sure it's only a small thing, but it removes a fraction of the movie's nostalgic factor. Boy, do I feel old!

OMG it's removed????
My copy of the Blu Ray Diamond of Beauty is still on it's way ( here in Belgium we have to wait untill november till it comes out)
So I ordered my Blu Ray from the US
You're not the only one Carody_biddle who has that nostalgic factor, I'm even used to that castle at the end of Disney Televison porgram's of my youth

Still in shock

It's replaced by both the "3-D fireworks castle" and the Mickey/Steamboat Willy logos.

Ok that I can get, but still before the movie starts there should be a blue castle......

Yeah I quite like the 3D castle and fireworks thing they've got going, but they shouldn't replace the old-school white-castle-on-blue-background opening they had for the older movies (especially when it has part of the soundtrack on it, like with Toy Story).

Wasn't the castle white and the background blue?
I've watched Bambi over a hundred times as a child and i always saw a white castle.
Though it doesn't matter that much to me. I think the new 3D castle intro is fine too, if you mean the one they used with Enchanted

There's just something about that opening. They plastered it in front of every Disney re-issue as well as the new releases back in the day. The moment you saw it pop on the screen, it immediately commanded wonder and excitement; you knew a very special movie was beginning!
Maybe the CG castle opening will do the same thing for the current generation. It's nice and all, but the nostalgic blue one still grabs my attention and gives me chills.
Anyway, it would be my preference to see Disney retain (or reinstate) the original openings for each film and keep it that way.

I totally agree with you Enigmawing...
The castle was something special and you got excited when it popped on the screen.
And Disney's trademark...
But how long will it last?
Remember even in the beginning of the "video - area" you had this mickey from fantasia and the sound started, a magic bubble twirled from his hand to the background and "Walt disney" was written on the screen and it disappeared, then came a mickey head that splitted in 3 parts to come toegether again and it disappeared.
On DVD Tinkerbell flew around and the letters DVD came on the screen ( and even here in Belgium that's gone also)
And that's all not that bad!
BUT THEY CAN'T TOUCH THE CASTLE !!!!!

It's like McDonald with a big D instead of the M....
WWF with a bird instead of a panda...
Playboy with a cat instead of a bunny...
Pepsi with a sqaure instead of a round circle...
etc....
The castle makes Disney, Disney is the castle
It's their famous "logo"
Show it to a kid and it'll say DISNEY, leave it behind it won't be so excited if just the movie starts
Or if it's not that big of a deal, then you won't mind when they change or leave out the little lamp of pixar that jumps up and down on the I ?
Same thing

Come on, there is still the same castle just in 3D, with the same sound just more modern. Was anyone complaining when Disney added the 70s (or 80s?) intro on older films although it wasn't part of the Original?

Try thinking about how anyone who saw the pre-1980s Disney films when they first came out must have felt when they saw a rerelease of the film (granted they were still alive) and saw the blue castle logo play before the film.

Stop panicking!
There is no way Disney will touch the logos of any films that had a stylised opening logo, like Lilo and Stitch, Home on the Range, Fantasia 2000.
It wouldn't make sense.

It should also be known that Warner Bros also updates the logo to some of their movies (Such as Twilight Zone: the Movie) to the more modern one

When they remove the blue and white castle logo...do they also end up removing the music that was with that logo?
It is pretty stupid of them to remove the original logos of the more recent classsics, but put back in the original logos of the old classics! I hope to see Cinderella's original (RKO?) logo put back in that was there before the blue and white castle logo.

I'm with you, the original logo should be with each and every film. End of story.

i like the 3d fireworks castle, its beautiful, but i think they should retain the blue/white castle as part of the movie. specially where the soundtrack starts over it, as the 3d one has its own music.
