Special Award #1: Most Creative/Artistic Member
This Special Award has been previously celebrated in 2009 and returns once again. Due to its popularity last year, and various nominations to bring it back again this year, it will be included among the regular roster of categories next year.

Please submit no more than three forum member names and rank them, with 1 being your first choice and 3 being your third.

Special Award #2: Forum Member You'd Most Like To Spend A Day With In a Disney Theme Park
This Special Award has been celebrated in both 2008 and 2009, and returns for one last hurrah, as the category will be retired after this ceremony.

Please submit no more than three forum member names and rank them, with 1 being your first choice and 3 being your third.

Special Award #3: Tangled Enthusiast of the Year
This Special Award celebrates a notable forum member who has displayed a high degree of enthusiasm and anticipation for the 2010 animated film Tangled (formerly Rapunzel in the U.S.A.).

Please submit no more than three forum member names and rank them, with 1 being your first choice and 3 being your third.

ANNOUNCEMENT: The UltimateDisney.com/DVDizzy.com Legacy Award
The UltimateDisney.com/DVDizzy.com Legacy Award(s) celebrate notable members of the website and forum community who have displayed a continued excellence in posting, forum activity, website activity, etc. not just in the past year, but in the entire existence of UltimateDisney.com and DVDizzy.com. This is not meant to supercede or replace the "Member of the Year" Award, but act as a companion, a "Lifetime Achievement" within the forum and site's history. For the inaugural* award, I have selected the recipients who will receive this one-of-a-kind statue/trophy personally designed by enigmawing. Many thanks to her for designing this award!

*Disneykid & CJ previously received Special Awards in 2007, which were one-off categories retired after that ceremony. Both were my inspiration for this new award.

*Note*: There may be additional special awards presented during the ceremony that do not require voting at this stage

Congratulations to all the nominees! Again, please remember that these awards are for fun only. There are many, many UD members and while a great many names were submitted in the categories, only a very select few can make the cut. I'd love to list everyone who is submitted as a nominee, but the voting would never work then. So please, no hurt feelings! :)

You may only submit one vote per category. You may not vote for yourself or any thread/review/game/etc. that you started/authored. All votes must be submitted to udforumawards@gmail.com to be eligible (NO PMs!). Please make "7th Annual UD Forum VOTES" the subject of your email. Everyone is encouraged to vote, regardless of whether you have participated before. All votes must be received by Tuesday, October 19th, at 11:59pm (Eastern Time). That's a whole week away, but it goes by faster than you think, so vote now!

I'm surprised to see that I got a nom for Super Sophomore. I've barely had time to be on here this past year (something that deeply saddens me). I'll send in my votes soon. :)

Wow... I got nominated for UD member of the year!

Wasn't there a movie that was nominated for a Best Picture Oscar and won despite not being nominated for any other category?

It would be interesting if I got the big award...

Anyways, I'll send my votes now.

I'm utterly shocked to see my name pop up so much. :o Image So . . . is this where we start offering bribes? Image
But seriously, you don't know how appreciated it is, especially when it comes to the wedding-related stuff (only two-and-a-half weeks left before the big day)! Image Thanks so much, everyone!

Congrats to all the nominees and good luck! Scaps, so glad I could help out with creating the new award; I'm really looking forward to entire ceremony. :D

Yes, speeches will be done again. I need to post the thread for that, will do that shortly before the voting deadline passes.

Er, I thought that's what you meant by speeches. :P

The sign-up thread for the intros will be posted a couple days before the voting deadline.

Question- do we have to place a vote in every category?

Posted: Wed Oct 13, 2010 5:29 pm
by Goliath
Wow, lots of things popping up which I had nominated, too.

I'm very honored to be nominated twice. Thanks. :)

Before I send in my votes I have a question: why do some categories have five nominees (like 'best avatar') and some have more than five (like 'signature')?

No. :)
Goliath wrote:Before I send in my votes I have a question: why do some categories have five nominees (like 'best avatar') and some have more than five (like 'signature')?
The way that the submissions were tabulated, I wanted to get as close to five per category as possible. In about half of the categories, there were multiple-way-ties for the final slot in the official nomination list for a category. Rather than have less than five per category, I opted for more.

Example:

Let's say that Avatar of the Year had the following nominations submitted:

Joe Bob's Avatar - IIIIIIII
Alice's Avatar - IIIIIII
Marlin's Avatar - IIIIIII
Adric's Avatar - IIII
Ryder's Avatar - I
Amelia's Avatar - IIII
Bedelia's Avatar - IIIIIIIIII
Dory's Avatar - IIII
Hamlet's Avatar - I
Ollie's Avatar - II

Of the ten, the definites for the Avatar nominations would've been Joe Bob, Alice, Marlin, and Bedelia. Adric, Amelia, and Dory had a three-way tie, while Ryder, Hamlet, and Ollie don't have enough nominations to even make it to the tie, and so they're not in the running. Rather than just include four nominees of the ten, I included seven. Had I gone for less, then some categories would be much too small (DVDizzy.com Review of the Year would have only 2 nominees). In some cases, there were not enough nominees to make it up to five (Idea of the Year, the fixed categories of Interview/Roundtable of the Year and Article of the Year), and so I included all that were available. Poll/Game of the Year I intentionally kept at less than 5 because the three listed were the only ones to have multiple nomination submissions, all the others were just singular nominations. In the case of News/Event of the Year, even though I had the option of only including three like Poll/Game, that category generally has a lot of nominees listed anyway as a nice reminder of "here's what happened in the past year" so I included all that was nominated.

Hope that explains everything!

Are all of these friends of Joe Bob? I must meet them! All of them! I now know so much about Joe Bob that I would love to get to know all of his friends! Hamlet doesn't have an evil uncle/father that kills his actual father, right? And does he see his actual father's ghost and then goes all crazy, killing off his girlfriend, mum, uncle/father, best friends, that guy who gets stabbed behind the curtain and his son, plus numerous other people? And is Ollie related to Ollie as in "Ollie Johnston" Ollie? And what about the rest of them? I would much rather like to get to know Bedelia, Adric and Alice! Does Alice fall down a rabbit hole or does she go through the looking glass? Or is she a completely different Alice that say does not follow a white rabbit, travel through a wonderful land and meet strange and exotic creatures? I ever so much want to meet all of them! Oh, please, can I Mary Poppins? Can I?

Wow, nice to see that even though I mostly lurk nowadays, I still manage to garner some nominations! :D I better start passing out "Vote for Me!" buttons and kissing babies, preferably in that order before someone tries to have me arrested.
