The New York Daily News reports that the show's star — 14-year-old Caitlin Sanchez, the voice of Dora — has brought a lawsuit against Nickelodeon, claiming that she has been cheated out of potential income from the show. According to Sanchez's lawyer, John Balestriere, the contract Sanchez was (allegedly) pressured to sign — not just by representatives of Nickelodeon but by her own agent — was "convoluted and inscrutable," and cheats her out of "millions, possibly tens of millions" of profits he feels she is entitled to.

What about the other voice actors for the show? Should we expect them to sue Nickelodeon for the same reason soon?

There are countless stories of child actors cheated out of hard-earned money and royalties from movies and TV shows. It has happened in the past and no doubt will continue to happen, unless these child actors are vigilant in their dealings, hire good agents and have people who genuinely care about their investments.

She does a job and quite well, I suspect. The "Dora" franchise generates millions worldwide and if she's not getting her rightful piece of the pie, I applaud her actions.
