Anyone else doing this? I think it's a great way to force yourself to finish a story. It sets some actual goals you have to fulfill (or else... nothing happens). For me, it's a nice personal experiment. I want to know if I'm capable of finishing a 50,000-word story within a month. I've got some friends who've joined as well, and we try to keep each other inspired and motivated.

If you want to write a story, this could be a good way to do it.

I tried this a couple of years ago, but I didn't actually get around to doing it. I'm not even sure if I had a definite story that I wanted to tell. Unfortunatel, I really won't have much/any time because I always have so much homework every night. But, if I do find the time, I might sign up and try it again this year.

I did it last year. I can never write something chronologically. I wrote the prologue and the epilogue of a novel, and then select chapters in between the two, but I never finished it within the 30-day timeframe. Since then, I'd update it now and then, write more chapters, revise others, but it's fallen by the wayside since I've got other writing projects that I work on.

Maybe this year I'll do another novel.

How many words do you have to write per day?

There's no rules about that. You just write as much as you can and when you can. Write, revise, write again, etc. However you do your writing, but within 30 days. If you wanted to do a set amount of words per day, then 50,000 words into 30 days is roughly 1666 words a day.
