I am trying to find the best way to organize my Disney DVD Collection and I was wondering how some of you guys do it. Any Help would be great!

mine goes from Snow White to Treasure Planet, from Toy Story to Finding Nemo... and the rest is Live Action or other cartoons simply alphabetized

but it depends on what you collect... I only collect live action, Disney classics (snowwhite - Home On The Range) and the Pixar films... no sequels or something, good luck organising

At the moment, my entire collection, Disney or not, is alphabatized.

In the distant future when I finally complete the animated classics collection I'll consider seperating those and puting them in chronological order, but for now alphabatizing works best. If I put the animated classics in order now I'd be missing more than I have, and it'd depress me.

The only exception to the alphabatizing rule is with sequels. If the sequel's name would place it alphabetically before the original (such as Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones would go before Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace), I'll put the original first and then the sequel.

Other than that, the entire collection is alphabatized.

I put my collection in order from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs to Treasure Planet from their release date in the theater.
Also Pixar, Treasure Tins, sequels and Live action from their theater release.

My Disney DVDs are mostly organized according to what collection they belong to (Platinum, Gold, etc.), and then within that, in chronological order or release date order. My Pixar & Live-Action films are not intersperced with the animated classics. Once I get more of the animated classics, I'm going to organize them in strict chronological order.

The rest of the DVDs are just sort of thrown together according to what DVDs look good next to each other. For example, if a case is bright red, I put it with other bright cases instead of the darker ones. Also, I have the snapper cases and keepcases seperate. I keep series (Star Wars, LOTR) together.

So its just sort of a mish mash of various methods. I guess I'm not the best example to go by when trying to organize your collection.

I have the animated classics in order by theatrical release, with the exception of Fantasia 2000, which is with the original in The Fantasia Anthology. Other Disney ones are all together, as are the Buena Vista ones and snappers, but for the most part, it's either alphabetical, or whatever is most aesthetically pleasing.

Totally chronological - all (more than 500) of Disney, including Touchstone and Hollywood Picture releases!

I organize them by type. My Disney Collection takes two shelves since they're really small.

On the top shelve I have the Platinum Editions and Sleeping Beauty sharing with all of my other Black Boked DVDs.

Platinum:
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King.
Special Edition: (Black box)
Sleeping Beauty

At the bottom I have:

Standard:
The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, The Rescuers, The Great Mouse Detective, Fantasia.
Special Editions: (White boxed)
Peter Pan, Oliver and Company, Dumbo,
Gold Collection:
Pinocchio, Saludos amigos, The Three Caballeros, Make Mine Music, Fun and Fancy Free, Melody Time, The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad, Alice in Wonderland, The Sword in the Stone, The Aristocats, Robin Hood, The Fox and the Hound, The Black Cauldron, The Rescuers Down Under, Pocahontas.

That's how I arrange them, in that order.

I got a giant bookcase, with several planks, 1 for the clasics, 1 for the other animated, 1 foor live action, 1 for the boxes, and 1 for special editions like the Walt Disney Treasures.

Since I collect all animated movies, I have all the animated classics in order with their sequals(s) right behind them. All the other DTV's come after in no particular order, then Pixar, and lastly anything else.

I have all my animated classics in chronological order (with the exception of the two Fantasias which are at the end inside their Fantasia Anthology box), then the Pixar films in the same order, then the same goes fpr their live action releases.

Oh boy...here is where you will al think I'm nuts. Our Disney DVD collection is sorted in the following manner:

Alphabetically by Box Set - Then by Pixar - Then by Collector's Edition - Then by Animated Classics - Then by Holiday or Misc Animation - The by Live Action.

Other Animated and Kids movies - Disney DTVs, Dreamworks etc in alphabetical order.

All Live Movies are in alphabetical order regardless of Studio or Release date.

Animation and Live take up about the same amount of space in my collection.

Gee, I just find a empty spot in the cabinet under our television set. I don't really organize my Disney DVDs. They're all mixed in with my other DVDs. Seriously, at the rate I buy DVDs I'm going to run out of storage room REALLY soon.

I have all disney titles in cronological order from snow white to pirates of the caribean
followed by the treasures (by release order) and folowed by touchtone titles
Although when a far off place is released it wil go in my Spielberg /amblin section, (as is roger rabbit)

I organize all of them by spine color. The blues with the blues and so on.

I organized the animated classics by chronological order, then I have my Treasures in the order of the animated shorts first, then chronologically with the live action. After that are the DTV sequels/ theatrical animated releases not included in the classics countdown. These are for the most part in order of release, but if there is more than 1 sequel, I put them together. Next, I have my Pixar films chronologically. The older live action releases are organized by type. First is the Gold Collection releases, then Vault Disney, then the Series with the big red bar on top organized by their sub catagories. After that is all of the normal releases. The more modern releases are all chronologically organized, except for holiday films.

I organize them, like some of you guys, chronologicaly, the treasures first, then the classic from snowhite to treasure planet, Pixar movies are just in another place with all my dreamworks, universal, fox, columbia, warner (animated or not) movies.

I don´t collect sequels, maybe I´ll buy Lion King 1 1/2 only.

I own many DVDs so I have divided them into two sections. Animated and Non-Animated. 4 shelve are taken up by Non-animated and 2 shelves are taken up by animated.
The Non-animated is the majority of my collection and it is alphabetized.
The Animated section is alphabetized also. I don't seperate out pixar or dreamworks films from the disney ones. My animated section is simply that, anything animated including brands other than Disney. But, my treasure Tins sit by themselevs because they are especially important to me.
Oh, and then I have a stack of Non-animated films which I don't have space for in my dvd tower and they are the last few letter of the alphabet, only w-z I think.
