I don't think I've been this happy for a DVD releases since "Ducktales." Now, sadly, or not sadly, it is a DVD-on-Demand title at WB.com, but at least they finally put in on DVD at all. Word is other cartoons may follow it.

Great news.. Sadly though I think WB is using the Archive system as an excuse to release just about anything these days. Even Season 2 of "Falcon Crest" is coming as part of their DOD programme. Whatever happened to trusting consumers? How do they know which specific shows or movies will sell well on DVD? And what's their definition of "well"?
Smaller companies like MPI or Shout are cornering the market on cult TV shows but don't seem to be going through any financial losses...or resorting to unreliable, cheap DVD-R manufacturing.

The production of (non-Scooby) Hanna-Barbera dvd sets has been virtually non-existant in recent years. If this DVD-on-Demand system is what's needed to get these shows out there, then so be it. The quality won't be that bad (hopefully), since the show is from the '90s. The rumored Josie & the Pussycats in Outer Space and Thundarr the Barbarian sets might show some wear, though.
But then again, DuckTales' (and any other DA set for that matter) quality was also quite bad for an actual retail dvd set (and no special features), so just because something gets released to retail stores, doesn't mean it's actually going to be remastered/restored.
I hope many more HB shows will follow. Great news indeed. And they made a cool/matching cover to boot.

I agree so far as WB should have released this in the stores. I think they underestimate how many fans of this show there actually are. Their loss in the end. But, so long as we get any kind of release, I'll take it. Being very honest, I didn't even think they would release this one at all!

It's true, just becuase we get a store release doesn't mean it will look much better then the stuff from WB's Archive Collection. How cool is it that they didn't give it that dumb, generic cover that most in the Archive Collection have and gave it a proper HB cover instead!
I was wondering if the last "Tiny Toons" and/ or "Animanicas" may get a release like this?

I know, I was so upset when I read that.
On the plus side, August 31 is only 3 days away!
But I'd rather get pressed discs and not DVD-R's. Especially since other regions are getting pressed discs for "Falcon Crest" (they're already up to Season 3!)
Regarding "Pirates of Darkwater", I don't remember much of the series, but I do still have a plastic cup from a fast-food restaurant happy meal many years ago (not sure if it was McDonalds or some other place).

OMIGOD...likewise if Warners is planning on continuing "Knots Landing" on the Archive label I'll be seriously peeved. I don't accept DVD-R in my collection at
all. It's not a reliable format for me.

It in fact was one of the later shows to come out of HB before they ultimately became WB.

I'll be getting this, of course. I saw the twitter information on the release a week from this past Tuesday and was pretty excited. I'd prefer a regular retail release, but I'll take it. They'll be from the masters, so they should still run circles around my bootlegs.

I use it only if the info provided has links from reputable sources. If you put in the work, Wikipedia CAN be a good place to look for info. But you still have to work.
