Warner Bros next movie star: Bugs Bunny

EXCLUSIVE: Warner Bros has hired Elf scribe David Berenbaum to write Bugs Bunny, a live action/CG feature film designed to revive one of the studio’s most iconic intellectual properties. I’m told that Berenbaum, who also adapted The Spiderwick Chronicles and is writing an animated project with George Lucas--just closed his deal. No producer has yet been assigned. While Warner Bros has struggled to pick winners out of its DC Comics catalog beyond Batman, the studio has done little with its Looney Tunes catalog lately. Warner Bros scored with the 1996 film Space Jam, mingling Looney Tunes characters with NBA superstars led by Michael Jordan, but its feature momentum ground to a halt with the 2003 Brendan Fraser-starrer Looney Tunes: Back In Action.

Hooray! Another childhood icon being raped by Hollywood. I'm not going to see it.

And why are they making this?

It's sad that Studios can't have any original ideas. I'm guessing that this will probably be released in 3D.

I noticed in the description, it said the film is "designed to revive" Bugs Bunny. I think it's desgined to ruin him like how they ruined Alvin and the Chipmunks, Scooby-Doo and even Yogi Bear.

I was going to guess the same thing. It could be shot in 3D because Warner Bros. cares for well... let's have Lickboot say it...

I actually thought Looney Tunes: Back in Action was much better than Space Jam, aside from the fact that it lacked Lola Bunny, one of the only furry characters that makes my mouth water, ha.
Anyway, I don't think making a Bugs Bunny feature is a bad idea, but it should be a traditionally animated feature. Like, I'm sure we'd all be thrilled if they made a Mickey Mouse movie that was just another feature length, 2D adventure like Mickey and the Beanstalk or Three Musketeers. Maybe something set in modern day like Runaway Brain. The problem is that they feel they have to go live action, even worse with CGI, though I'd be surprised if this happened and it was something like the Yogi Bear movie. I don't believe they'd do a Bugs Bunny movie like that. More likely it'll be another film along the lines of Space Jam and Back in Action with traditional animation, which could turn out good with good writing. It'd be a surprise if it turned out good. I feel the Looney Tunes have greatly lost "it" since, well, way back. But, honestly, I never liked the direction Chuck Jones took Bugs and Daffy. I liked their earlier, zanier incarnations better, and Bugs just became more and more of a prima donna.

If the Bugs was to be 2D that'd be alright with me. The problem is, I doubt he will be. It'd be interesting if the story revolved around the concept of the 3D takeover. Traditionally animated Bugs is out of work and trying to find a way to fit in with the modern world. I've always wanted that to be the focus of the next Roger Rabbit film, but it'd be neat with Bugs too!
