Metropolis: The Musical

OK, I know there are some Metropolis fans on this forum, and I don't know any others, unfortunately. I'm just wondering, who here knows anything about this? I found a script online and just bought the Original Cast Recording (with Judy Kuhn and Brian Blessed), but I've found an awful lot of conflicting reports.

Some people say it was never recorded, and so the actual staging is a mystery. But others say that they own a recording on DVD, and I have seen one of the numbers (in crappy quality) on YouTube.

Some people say that the person who wrote it will not give anyone the rights to perform it, so it has pretty much died. But they did it in Oregon in 2002, apparently, and I've heard people comment that their community theaters and high schools have put it on.

I'm just really confused, and was wondering if anyone knew anything at all about this musical and whether recorded performances exist or if it is still performed anywhere.

It's a shame if they don't, because I was just complaining to my grandmother the other day about how there aren't many good roles in musicals for altos, but a cast list I saw online described Maria/Futura as "18 - 25, Alto." That would be a dream role for me, since I love the contrasts between those characters so much! That would be so much fun to portray!
