I work at a campground where we have lots of children and a drive-in theater. We show recent movies (as in, they were in theaters no later than last June - so one-year-old or newer movies).

I need a recent movie that would be good for kids/families/father's to watch together for father's day.

I know the staples like Finding Nemo or The Incredibles but I need something that is a year or less old.

"Old Dogs" and "Imagine That" are two that came to mind.

Can you tell me some films that came out in the last year that would have father/child or family bonding themes suitable for a father's day drive-in movie?

Too bad <i>Up</i> just misses the cut, of course its father-son dynamic is surrogate grandfather filling in for deadbeat dad. <i>District 9</i> has a positive example of an alien father/son, but that doesn't work for your age group. Is <i>Furry Vengeance</i> too recent? It looks dreadful, but it's age-appropriate and certainly involves a father and son. For that matter, <i>Extraordinary Measures</i> also has B Fras in dad mode, but I doubt kids would care for that. <i>Old Dogs</i> would be more apt for old fathers, but it may just be your best bet. Wait a minute, <i>Fantastic Mr. Fox</i>! Recent, good, and features a father and son. That's my pick.

We showed Up for Memorial Day.

It's so hard to pick these movies! Kids are very fickle and picky. When we do movies that have been out on DVD even for only afew months kids whine "we own that and have seen it a dozen times!"

It's just like, 'who cares, kid! Watch a good movie again and enjoy it!"

We've tried older movies like The Incredibles and Spirited Away and seriously NO ONE comes, we once had just 3 kids for Spirited Away and all 3 left before the movie was half over.

I've been considering Fantastic Mr. Fox as well, that or Cloudy/Meatballs.

It's just so hard, kids don't appreciate films like they used to!

I finally saw Prince of Persia last night. I actually really liked it. The trailers made it look like another Scorpion King-type movie and because of this I wasn't really interested in seeing it. But it was cheap-night at the theater so I thought what the heck and saw it. It was actually fun - liked it better than Alice in Wonderland. I don't know if you can get it for your event, or is it too new?

Unfortunately, too new. I'm not skilled at pirating, and I'm not a fan of it anyways.

How about Finding Nemo? It's a great story about a father who braves the entire ocean just to find his son while the son undergoes a similar transformation. Marlin becomes a better father and Nemo becomes a better son.

If that isn't a great Father's Day movie then nothing is...

Great movie to watch on father's day, great movie to watch in general. Though it's probably PG-13. Yeah, never mind then, Finding Nemo is probably the best choice.

Finding Nemo seems like a good Father's Day movie.

Kung Fu Panda? It does have a father-son tie even though the father son is a goose-panda...

I would say Percy Jackson but it's not out until the 29th. It has a father-son type thing....

or if you wanted a father daughter type of thing...Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland...I would also Suggest How to train your dragon but it's not out yet either...or what about Ponyo??

I know this is older but what about Ratatouille - Remy and his Father?

or what about Robots. Maybe its so old they'll think its new? or pick a movie so old and so discreet that kids will think it's brand new...there are kids who haven't seen The Lion King....


I would also suggest Star Wars "luke i am your father" but i'm not sure that fits into the age group you want to show them

My idea was perhaps show the kids a movie they've never seen before that's so old they'll think it's a new thing....though you can't easily fool kids...trust me I was one
