Hey I'm wondering if there's a list somewhere online that contains all of the novels that Disney movies have been based on. Such as J.M. Barrie's Peter Pan and so on. Any help would be much appreciated.

It can be found on www.imdb.com there were a lot of good Disney movies based on books. The best one was Child Of Glass. The book was just as great as the movie.

Since it would take like three hours to list every novel or story every Disney film was based on, I'll just make a list for animation since those are the major ones (forgive me if I get some of the author's names misspelled or just totally wrong):

Thank you so so so much. So far I've only read Peter Pan and I'm working on the two "Alice" books right now. I just love reading the books that favorite movies of mine are based off of and Disney movies are some of my all-time favorites so now I'm trying to read as many of those books as I can. Robin Hood doesn't have an author. It's long lost in the mists of time. The story is a traditional English tale told orally for generations.

If a name must be given to the author it will be Sir Richard Burton (no, not the actor) who "translated" the original stories to English. I use quotes around translated, because it is generally accepted that he rewrote the stories considerably to match some of his racial prejudices.

And as if the Disney "Dalmatian" sequels weren't bad enough, there was an original literary sequel called "The Starlight Barking" which apparantly is supposed to be some sort of a fantasy.

And of course everyone knows that "Snow Dogs" is based on "Dogsong" by Gary Paulsen.

I've read a lot of these, and own even more. It's always been my goal to read all the books that Disney films have been based on.

Pete's Dragon gives credit as follows: "Based on a story by Seton I. Miller and S.S. Field." However, I can never find anything like this by these people, or any real info on them either. Anyone out here know anything about it?
