Fans?
"Hot N Cold" is a very good track all around, "I Kissed a Girl" was very well-produced but the lyrics didn't do anything to make it as good as "Hot N Cold," "Ur So Gay" had a somewhat-amusing music video but the lyrics don't make all that much sense. I don't think she has what it takes to become a serious pop icon who lasts. But we'll see.

I enjoy Katy Perry's music. I own One of the Boys, and bought her new single. My favorite song by her is "Thinking of You"!
I'm not really invested enough to care whether or not she has a long career, although the quality or lack thereof of the new record will likely determine that. I can see "California Gurls" being a number one single though.

^Thinking of You is my favourite song of hers too. I don't really care enough about her to buy whole albums though. A few select songs from iTunes will do. (And would it really hurt to put an 'i' instead of 'u' in girl? I'm sorry, but things like that really bug me .

.)

I really do love her and was so excited to see her named #1 on Maxim Hot 100 list this year! She seems down to earth for her age too. Those links didn't work, so I guess I will have to wait until the CD comes out!

I'm not sure if I'm what you call a 'fan,' but I did buy her first CD. She's the type of person you buy a CD of only if you like the single she has out. And "Hot N Cold" was the decider for me. I liked "I Kissed A Girl" but it seemed to be playing on a 'scandalous' vibe and I wasn't sure if the CD would actually be worth anything. To be honest though, besides "Hot N Cold," "If You Can Afford Me" is the only one that left an impact. Well, I remember liking "Mannequin," too.
So I'm not sure if I'll be getting her next CD or not. Still, it's way down on my list of priorities (with Kelly Clarkson's next CD this year at the top).

I'll definitely be getting this one when it comes out. I just hope this one doesn't have the same effect on me as her last album did. I found it in Wal Mart for line $9 so I got it, fell in love with some of it, and Hot N Cold was my favorite track. Then it was released as a single and it just made the album less exciting! I just don't like that we'll have to wait 3 and a half months for this album! Hopefully since they released the single a little early, they'll push the album's release up.

You know I only finally listened to "California Gurls" for the first time maybe 2 weeks ago. And it was blank and excessive. I never have this reaction - that feeling that this is so typical and you can always count on pop to be vapid - to pop music anymore (we've all been spoiled by Lady Gaga). But, I was legitimately shocked by how bad it was. Not to mention the video, trying to use sex appeal, tech tricks, and pretty colors and flashy sets to make up for a bad song.
I predict the album itself is probably headed for similiar disaster territory. So, yeah Katy made a good decision to bitch at Lady Gaga for publicity. I'm really looking forward to the album coming out just so I can read the reviews. It's gonna be a massacre!

I recently sat down and listened to her first album and liked it. I love the sense of humor in some of her songs. Duh, considering my own career.
But California Gurls didn't do it for me. Vapid pop music. Sure, good for the summer season, but I don't think that song will have the staying power of something like "Crazy" from last summer (two summers ago?).
But now that her new album's out, I'll have to give it a chance. I think she's a good writer for how young she is.

The usually hilarious Lisa Nova interviews Katy Perry for a half-an-hour... Just for the hell of it:
<object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="
http://www.youtube.com/v/UOtJUmiUZ08&hl ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="
http://www.youtube.com/v/UOtJUmiUZ08&hl=en_US&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>
Neither of their best work (
here's some of Lisa's right here)... And Katy kind of comes off looking like an idiot (compared to much more engaging interviews with Ke$ha and outright seminal discussions with Lady Gaga - again, that John Norris interview is actually worth calling "epic"), though she does seem easy to talk to.
Real easy (if you catch my drift). I would have said "down to Earth," but she calls everyone "cute." I'm not kidding-
everyone. She does have a good voice, but with those eyes... I wish she would act more. She'd never de-throne Mandy Moore, but I think she has some talent in that arena. Her face is definitely more interesting than her foam-shooting boobs.
