Coming April 20th!

Looking forward to it! I thought it was a wonderful, wonderful film...a great historical drama. I actually saw it three times, which is the most I've ever seen a film in the theater (well, tied with Lilo & Stitch and Brother Bear, though). I was pleased, too, that it got 10 Oscar nominations, though ROTK will (and deservedly, I think) edge it out. But I'll be getting it, for sure, on DVD...

3 times... I couldnt sit through the whole thing once.

What a boring, pretentious overrated film.

This was one of my favorite movies of the year - it felt like they actually went back in time and shot a documentary about one ship's crew. And that set just makes me drool. I'm getting that one for sure. :D

Hee hee hee
I saw it on the In Room Cinema at my hotel last week, so perhaps I was not getting the full experience I needed, but I thought the whole thing dragged in a number of places. Given that they combined two of O'Brian's books, you'd think they would cut out the dragging bits. There was even an impromtu freestyle jazz session with some of the principle cast on mandolin, I think.... :D

Actually, when all is said and done, it wasn't a bad film. I'm not sure how deserving it is of a Best Picture nod, but then again - you could say that about any film, really.

Still an excellent DVD set, and great to see that 2003 was the return of the seafaring epic (even Return of the King had boats, though I'm not sure how that spirit army didn't sink through the bottom of the boat, when they could quite clearly got hrough walls....selectively solidity?).

This has just been confirmed as a single AND 2-disc sets for April 28 here in Australia.

I was looking at the Amazon listing and it seems to have been delayed. At the very least, the listing now says Availability: NOT YET RELEASED, DVD Release Date: January 1, 2010 indicating a indefinite delay.

You can't preorder it either.

Just wondering if anybody knew anything more...because it looks like you get a lot of groovy things with the US version.

Yes the US set looks great. I'll be picking up the 2-disc set blind.

As far as the Aussie release I don't know anything about a delay or anything. But then again I don't look out for news for other regions. Sorry Loom.

No, I meant was there a delay in the US release (given the Amazon listing)?

The Aussie release is right on track...

Oh.....

Well I haven't heard anything about a US delay either, though it's definitely possible depending on what happens at the Oscars.

Lol well Loomis that set looks very substancial remember that set falls in the MMB Guidelines

-Box sets
-Expensive sets are the way to go

I dont see a re-release of this movie till 10 years and even then it won't beat that set specially when they're releasing a movie only disc that same day!!
