Hey guys!
I just love reading what tv shows we here on the forum own, and thought it'd be cool if we could also post pictures showing our Tv shows on dvd or blu-ray!
I'll start posting my collection: it's not muuuuch, but it's something! I've already ordered Lost - Season 5, Glee - Season 1 Vol 1 and The Big Bang Theory - Seasons 1 and 2, now I'm waiting for their arrival! =)

Man, I REALLY need to take some new pics... The last ones were from 2003!

Of course, part of the problem is that I ran out of room, between thousands of books, ~900 video games, and ~3000 DVDs, I lost the battle for shelf space long ago.

This unit USED to hold my entire DVD collection, back in the day (I think I was already having overflow problems even then...)


Now, that unit holds JUST my live-action TV shows (not counting superhero shows, like Smallville.) I have 4 stacks of DVDs about 3 feet high in front of it, blocking the first four shelves.

Superhero stuff takes up a couple of boxes (Smallville, DC Universe, TMNT, etc.)

Don't even think about where 400+ anime titles go... (the top of my closet, random bookcases, boxes and stacks, etc.)

I agree! Explain!!

And I never really collected tins. If I had, that Beyond: Limited would be pretty darn valuable- m'I wrong? And what did you get in that, really? A booklet and some lobby cards?

I believe I met someone who had Anchor Bay's tin of Disney's The Black Hole. Kinda cool but...

I'm not aware of a Black Hole tin...

As far as the Beyond, Amazon surprisingly has some good prices (but make sure you are getting the set with the tin, and not just the regular disc... Also, be sure and ask if it is region 1.) Of course, there is someone trying to sell it for $220, as well...

I think the prices were higher in the days before the Grindhouse re-release.

On Heathers, it is numbered of 15,000, and it came with a ruler that says "Heathers Rules", a mini yearbook, and some headshot postcards of the primary characters. The yearbook is pretty thick, most of the tins like that came with thick books (~48 pages, etc.)

Of course, the DVD in the tin is from 2001, the 2008 version may look a bit better.

Let Sleeping Corpses Lie even came with a Toe Tag!

The only Anchor Bay tin that I'm missing is "Candy", and evidently there were two versions, a box of chocolate-looking round tin, and a birth-control round tin. Beyond that, I'm missing a couple of other numbered Anchor Bay titles (like Halloween), but none of those came in tins.

BTW, in my post above, I said I had 4 stacks of DVDs in front of those shelves, it was actually supposed to read Animated TV DVDs. Of course, I had a HUGE boost when Big Lots did their WB $3 and $6 season set sale (stuff like Flintstones and other Hanna Barbera sets, Thundercats, Animaniacs, etc.)

I do like the wooden box Anchor Bay had for The Wicker Man. Wish I had one.

It was a Limited Edition for the 1999 VHS, strangely, and not the DVD:



According to the product description, it was limited to 10,000 and had the Widescreen VHS, a 48-page collector's booklet (which wasn't included in the DVD), and lobby cards. The booklet had photos and interviews with director Gary Nelson & matte artist Harrison Ellenshaw, cast/crew bios, production notes, etc. as well as the script for Ellenshaw's alternate ending.

I'm surprised they did that all for the VHS, and not for the DVD.

Ahh, that's cool, I never thought about VHS.

I didn't collect VHS...

"Rental Pricing", low resolution, lack of widescreen (except in a few cases), the degrading of quality every time you played it (or even if you just left it on the shelf for a few years,) and so on...

Not to mention, I got my Laserdisc player in 1990, so I wanted to buy stuff on that format instead. Then of course I got DVD in 2000, and never looked back. Hmm, it's kind of funny, I got my PS3 last year (although it's broken right now). I wonder if I'm going to get the newest format in a ~10 year cycle...
