Massive PS3 problem... Error 8001050f

Last night this Error popped up on PS3s worldwide. The Slim models appear to be unaffected by this, but its popping up in the original PS3 models and even Developers "debug" units.
The consoles that are messed up can not log into PSN, and data can become corrupt. The clock appears to also roll back 10 years. Games that depend on trophies will not work, etc...
This was first thought of as a PSN issue, but there are now reports of PS3s not connected online that are experiencing the same problems. No word from Sony other than to follower their Twitter for updates. The last update was almost 12 hours ago saying Slim units appear to be unaffected. The latest speculation is this is a internal clock problem similar to Y2K. If so I'm wondering how something this big could get overlooked.
I tested my 120GB Slim earlier today and its working fine. However both of my friends 60GB PS3s have the problem. Hopefully a fix is coming soon. This is huge, and tons of PS3s are messed up and unusable right now.

Okay I just checked my PS3 20 GB and it can't go online because I don't have a wired internet going into it....but it won't even play a dvd of the Cartoon of Ghostbusters...the error number comes up and it seems to think today is December 31st and its thinks its 5:32 pm...its 10:330 in the morning central time.....EEK Who do i Call??
EDIT - The movie plays now just fine after I tried again....what's going on??

Update from the EU Playstation site.
It is a problem with the internal clock on the PS3. Slims are not affected. They said they hope to have an update in 24 hours, and they advised not to use your PS3 if you have the error/problem.

So far nothing on the US site...
UPDATE: The US site just posted the same info.

We are aware that the internal clock functionality in the PS3 units other than the slim model, recognized the year 2010 as a leap year. Having the internal clock date change from February 29 to March 1 (both GMT), we have verified that the symptoms are now resolved and that users are able to use their PS3 normally.
If the time displayed on the XMB is still incorrect, users are able to adjust time settings manually or via the internet. If we have new information, we will update you through the PlayStation.Blog or PlayStation.com.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
