Will Disney Afternoon DVDs ever be released?

What are the chances of seeing Ducktales, Darkwing Duck, Tailspin, or Rescue Rangers on DVDs? I'm a big fan of Darkwing and the edited episodes anger me beyond belief. Plus, Toon Disney won't play certain episodes Hot Spells etc. Would fans buy boxsets of these toons or is the single DVD approach more reliable:?:

Well, I doubt box sets of these are going to come out very soon. Perhaps in a few years, though.
Personally, I'd buy:
Aladdin: The Series (It would be perfect for Disney to release this around the Platinum Edition)
The Little Mermaid: The Series (same as above)
Bonkers
Darkwing Duck
DuckTales
Chip & Dale: Rescue Rangers
And while its not Disney, I just have to mention: Animaniacs. Helloooo nurse.

I hope they will make DVD series of:
Gargoyles
Aladdin: The Series
The Little Mermaid: The Series
Duck Tails
Chip 'n' Dale Rescue Rangers
Darkwing Duck
Goof Troop
Talespin
Are the best Disney Afternoon IMO that is.

Gummi Bears! They have to bring back Gummi Bears! I've only seen a few episodes when I was little and all I remember is that the big blue one had the same voice of Garfield the cat (We're...we're...ready...ready...to...to...PARTY!)

Who could forget the Gummi Bears.
I hardly watch that show when I was little or maybe I can't remember it because I was to young.
But I have seen at least one epsiode from Gummi Bears.

I think there is hope for these kind of releases. "Gargoyles" season 1 is in negotiation. There is a website you can go to and vote on tv shows you want to see released on DVD. The website is
http://www.tvshowsondvd.com. The site also includes news about upcoming releases.

Figures it would be Gargoyles... a series I have no interest in.
I especially want Darkwing Duck and Gummi Bears on DVD. But I'd probably buy season sets of Ducktales, Chip N Dale, etc., if they ever get released.

Sorry to burst your bubbles but..
As long as Toon Disney is doing well, it is not a profitable move, yes short term, but long term no, if people buy the sets less and less subscribers there will be.

But, MutantEnemy... if Toon Disney
wasn't doing well... Disney would just as likely use
that as their excuse not to release the Disney Afternoon cartoons.
If people are subscribing to the Disney channel to view these series, there must be enough interest in them to warrant a DVD release, right?
But I get what you're saying... I think it's the same with the Turner Classic Movies channel. Warner/Turner want people to subscribe to TCM, so they're taking their time releasing DVDs of all the great old movies they own.
Of course, "taking their time", they're still releasing more classic films at a faster rate than most studios. April will be heaven for Judy Garland fans.

I don't watch Toon disney anymore because they barely show any of the old cartoons. I think Ducktales is only on at 2am now, and I don't think they have ever shown Gummi Bears. They show Gargoyles alot, but I really am not interested in that show.

I would love to see all of these on DVD. I also want to see Alice's Adventures In Wonderland... I was hoping that something about that would have appeared on the Alice ME DVD.

There are 100 episodes of "Ducktales." The first season ran 65 episodes. Definateley too many for a first season release, so it would have to be released in volumes, preferably with 4-6 discs in each. With the huge number of episodes of the series, if the DVD's were spread out over a period of time, say 1 volume a year, there would still be people to watch the show. And if anybody has looked at the guide, "Ducktales isn't exactly played in a desirable time slot. It is on twice a day at 3:00 a.m and 10:30 a.m. Who is around to watch it except cildren who have afternoon kindergarten? Disney should just release the darn thing. How much profit are they really making from it?

That would be awesome beyond belief.
But if the Walt Disney Treasures collection is going to continue at the rate it is now, I don't think we'll see any of it for maybe 10 years or so.
PS: The one's I'd be most interested in are...
Ducktales
Darkwing Duck
TaleSpin
Chip and Dale: Rescue Rangers
<3
PPS: Does anyone remember the theme songs to all these shows? I have them all on MP3... heh. Or better yet... the theme song to "Disney Afternoon?"

Well, when I went to Disney World in 1992, they had this 'Disney Afternoon' stage show in Mickey's Starland... and my dad taped it. *cough* Actually, now that I look back, he taped quite a lot back then (It's a Small World, Journey into Imagination, and more)...
Anyway, it is fun to watch.
