Disney's shorts division

When was Disney's shorts division shut down? Once again, it proves one can't always trust wikipedia.
Walt Disney's biography says
"Production on the short cartoons had kept pace until 1956, when Disney shut down the shorts division. Special shorts projects would continue to be made for the rest of the studio's duration on an irregular basis. These productions were all distributed by Disney's new subsidiary, Buena Vista Distribution."
The article about Walt Disney Animation Studios says "In 1962, Walt Disney shut down the corporation's short subject department, focusing its attention mainly on television and feature film production."
(Now and then, a new short or featurette would be produced, but these were made by the feature division between larger projects.)
