• Dreams Come True: A Celebration of Disney Animation is a look back at 75 years of Disney magic on the silver screen and a look ahead to the all-new animated adventure comedy, The Princess and the Frog. Host Vanessa Williams is joined by some of the brightest stars of television, movies, music and sports, who share their favorite memories of Disney animation, FRIDAY, DECEMBER 4 (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET) on the ABC Television Network.
  
  This one-hour special explores the key ingredients of these treasured Disney films—the captivating characters, breathtaking artistry and unforgettable music—as well as the power they have to inspire and influence real-life dreams.
  
  There will also be an exclusive sneak peek from The Princess and the Frog, opening nationwide December 11. From John Musker and Ron Clements, the directors of The Little Mermaid and Aladdin, this animated adventure comedy is a modern twist on a classic tale, featuring a beautiful girl named Tiana, a frog prince who desperately wants to be human again, and a fateful kiss that leads them both on a hilarious adventure set in 1920s New Orleans and the mystical bayous of Louisiana. The Princess and the Frog marks Disney's long-awaited return to the hand-drawn animated musical.
  
  Some of the stars sharing their favorite Disney memories in Dreams Come True: A Celebration of Disney Animation include Miley Cyrus, Whoopi Goldberg, Jamie Lee Curtis, Selena Gomez, Kristin Chenoweth, Sir Elton John, Magic Johnson, Ty Pennington, Dick Van Dyke, Sigourney Weaver, Betty White, Serena Williams and Angelica Huston.
  
  Also featured are some of the filmmakers and stars from The Princess and the Frog, including executive producer John Lasseter, Anika Noni Rose (Tiana), Terrence Howard (James), Emeril Lagasse (Marlon the Gator), and singer/songwriter Ne-Yo.
  
  "Dreams Come True: A Celebration of Disney Animation" is broadcast in 720 Progressive (720P), ABC's selected HDTV format, with 5.1 channel surround sound. A TV parental guideline will be assigned closer to airdate.

Anyone gonna watch this? I may tape it to watch later (yep, on the ole VCR. I don't have DVR, so sue me...) as it's a new episode of "Ghost Whisperer" and Melinda Gordon has more priority for me.

I'm definitely tuning in. I miss the days where Disney had TV specials like this featuring celebrity guests. This was a big thing for them in the 90s, especially to promote their latest features. I remember one called "Disney's Unsung Heroes" which promoted Hunchback and focused on sidekick characters and more obscure leading ones. Another one that comes to mind was a VH1 special that I think Toni Braxton hosted which was a Disney song countdown.

And if we're going to get really old school, does anyone else remember a special Michael Eisner hosted where he's surrounded by Disney statues and maquettes? I don't even remember what it was about, but that image has stayed with me since I was 3 years old.

Anyway, I don't have a way to record this new special, but I'm sure it'll pop up on YouTube for me to re-watch whenever I want.

I'm so glad you posted this. I would've ended up missing it and hating myself for it.

Can't help but say I had an eyeroll moment at seeing Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez on the celebrity list. I'm thankful they got a wider range though.

You've reminded me of the TV special celebrating the opening of Disney/MGM Studios, which I had taped on video as a kid. So many great appearances from the likes of the Creel Triplets, the Pointer Sisters singing "I'm So Excited", etc. I also remember another one featuring the cast of "Cheers" (Woody talks about his childhood romance on the Haunted Mansion ride). Sadly these got taped over years ago...

Can someone eventually upload it to youtube or something?? Im dying to see this special...

I loved that one. I actually recently found my tape with that and the one with "Pocahontas: The Musical Tradition Continues" and recorded both to DVD. I still need to watch my DVD, but I think I did a pretty good job with it. Pocahontas came out better because I recorded it in SP mode...I don't know why.

I wish Disney would include these on the DVD's of the movies, because they're good specials.

I still have my tapes of the Disney on Ice specials (as well as "The Wizard of Oz" On Ice). Really should copy those to DVD one day...

I have no problem with Selena Gomez (so sue me, I kind of like Wizards of Waverly Place), but let's be honest, Disney will try and pimp out Miley Cyrus as much as they can. Remember when Hilary Duff was almost everywhere in the early 2000s? They're doing the same thing here.

Oh My God! I want to see this sooo bad... I'm going to go see my Grandma in a play, though, I think. Not that I'm not looking forward to that, but, c'mon, it's Disney!

For a min thought it said dec 6, if so then I'd be in a jam, watch Sci-fi's Alice or Disney: Celebrate 75 years of animation.

Defintly gon'na watch this special. Sounds engaging and the sneak peak will be worth it too.

Disney has to move very quickly with their teen girl stars, before the hormones completely take over....

Less excited now. Half those people have nothing to do with the Disney Animated Classics and I could care less what their favorite memories are.

Lets hope the HD broadcast gives us an idea of what some of these classics will look like in HD!

Yeah, except the periods 1943-1949 and 1968-1988. Those are the 'forbidden years'. Nobody at Disney is allowed to ever speak about them!

A lil off topic but just yesterday I was watching the "Disney Through the Decades" program on the Snow White DVD. It was very disjointed. Some of the decades didnt go in depth like they should've. I was surprised at how much depth they went through with the 1970s and 1980s sections but the 1950s and 1960s were surprisingly skimped. There was barely even any mention of Cinderella which shouldve been given more credit since it was the first fairytale done since Snow White. And the 2000s was just Ratzenberger talking nothing but PIXAR PIXAR PIXAR!

Anyway since it's been a billion years since theyve done a television special to promote an animated film, I'm not expecting anything great. I'm wondering how much promo PATF will get in this special. I fear it's gonna be nothin an hour long Disney stars concert...
