What I thought was Very Cruel Ironic....Jay Leno clearly announced the car was made in the USA....and the member of the Air Force who was the proud winner...had of what looked to be chinese ethnic backround.....

Only in America would a member of the Air Force who looked to be that he was from China....could win an American Made in USA by Ford On The Jay Leno Show

I LOVE the USA - Where anything is possible and all your dreams and nightmares come true at the same time :P

They should have given the guy who won for the Air Force something after cutting his hand with the knife (I had a feeling Jay would surprise him at the end and give him something, but he didn't.). Good show though.

Yeah I saw that....he injured his hand....opening the Cranberries Can...I wonder if NBC has good health insurance....Which I imagine he got medical treatment like a look over before they went on....obviously we didn't see that but they might have Medical employees around or something....and maybe they did give the Air Force Guy something it just wasn't shown on tV....you know because Sensors have to work hard to keep up with the level it...

Or the Army could sue NBC and that would be the end of The Jay Leno Show......which I think Springheeljack would get on board with that plan in a minute.....

I'm sure NBC had someone look over it before the next segment. I know you were on Jay's Tonight Show... Do they make you sign any waivers or anything if you get hurt so their not responsible?

Hopefully Jay will remain on TV for a long time, even if The Jay Leno Show ends up getting cancelled.

I don't think They Did....accept for some papers to give them permission to use the footage and agree to rules and conditions such as various policies...but the staff was very kind...and they even called us again to make sure that my parents were using me as a fat guy to get mis-used..or to make sure I wasn't going on the show for the wrong reasons....I guess they just wanted to make sure I didn't start yelling at Jay about how he discriminates fat people.....and they didn't make us turn in our meal tickets to get reimbursed....they just mailed us 2 checks a week after the show....one was to my dad for $125 the other was to me for $425 of course $125 went to my parents....but anyway...they did say they have medical people around and just in case something goes wrong like if during my act I slipped and cracked my head open while attempting to do my stunt for the event.(which thats just an example that I brought up)...which actually if you watched carefully Im not wearing any shoes...I took them off back stage because I didn't want to risk slipping and falling.....

So Yeah I think they had a medical team on the staff and if it was bad enough then they would go the hospital....so...I am sure the guy who cut his hand was checked out by the medical team or nurse at NBC and was given the okay to go on...

I personally don't think it's a "cruel irony" for someone with a Vietnamese (not Chinese) last name and heritage to win a made-in-America car. What's the big deal where the car was made or what ethnicity the winner is anyway?

:headshake:

I'm sure you didn't intend for it to sound racist, disneyboy, but it did. Almost as if a Caucasian American with a name like Captain Bob Jones should have won and not a Vietnamese American named Captain Tung Ngo. He is, after all, a US citizen and member of the United States Air Force, one of the branches of the military that protects and serves our country. Can't get any more American than that.

No I used the wrong word....I should have left out the word Cruel....i'd say its ironic....but shows you how great america is....a land for equal oppurtunity whether your vietnamese in the army or any race...in fact color of a persons skin shouldn't matter.....in my opinion it should only be brought up when you are looking for someone or someone is missing....like if an asian kid goes missing in new york they describe him...or something like that...

Yeah I see how it sounds racist looking back at what I typed as of now..now.......but I had no intention of that at all..and I thank you Escapay for giving me the beneifit of the doubt rather than some people would just go and be offended and trash me or say I am racist..because I don't see what why people are racist.....a persons a person it doesn't matter what they're skin color if we are ever in the world going to achieve world peace....we have to take racisim out of the picture.....

......which If I did offend anyone with that remark. in my first post .I apologize......I think it's very nice to see something like that happen...whether they are from vietnam, usa, or spanish, black, or white.....all of the Armed Forces of the USA give us freedom so I can talk on a forum about stuff....

I know. It's a joke. I forget what thread it was, but SpringHeelJack was jokingly threatening people with that grisly fate if they contributed to Leno's ratings. Nothing against Leno, just making a UD-related joke.

Looks like Jay's 10pm show is done. I don't like that his show is being shortened to 30mins though. Hopefully a better deal is worked out by NBC.

Earlier today the rumor was Jay was back on Tonight and Conan was out. Now it looks like The Jay Leno Show will move to 11:35 and be shortened to 30 mins. Conan and Fallon will follow with 1 hour shows starting 30 mins later.

I think Jay and Conan lose on this new line up if it happens.

I have feeling its gonna get more worse and complicated even more than this.....

and Jay Might say no way and go to ABC or Fox.....because somehow I don't think 30 minutes time slot is not going to agree with Jay and he might move to another network.....

Here's my idea....

The Jay Leno Show goes to the Tonight Show's Timeslot

Tonight Show with Conan goes back to Late Night's

and Jimmy Fallon has late night after conan's tonight....

not sure where that leaves Carson Daley...

either way I think this is just the beginning of a big ugly Corporate mess and it gonna get nasty real fast...

I agree. Its a huge mess for everyone involved.

Jay already teased cancellation and moving during his monologue tonight. He told Kevin if they did get cancelled, they need to go on vacation, and Fox was a good spot to visit. Although he didn't believe they would be cancelled because NBC only cancels you if your #1. Later he went on to say NBC stands for never believe your contract... A lot of his monologue was negative stuff towards NBC. I wonder if Conan will say anything on the Tonight Show or remain quiet tonight.

I feel bad for Conan. He's getting horribly screwed in all of this, even more so than before. And as for Leno... he wasn't funny at 10, and he's not going to be funny later.

The Jay Leno Show has been canceled with plans for Jay to go back to late night confirmed by NBC

Here's how we probably could have avoided all this drama....If Jay didn't put a time table on when he was going to leave The Tonight Show....Couldn't he have just appointed Conan without a time table on it? If so that was probably a oops on his part....

Conan O'Brien Statement: I Will Not Follow Jay At 12:05

On Tuesday afternoon, Conan O'Brien released a statement saying he will not follow an 11:35 PM Jay Leno show with a 12:05 'Tonight Show' out of respect for the 'Tonight Show' brand and for Jimmy Fallon. He also takes shots at NBC.
People of Earth:

In the last few days, I've been getting a lot of sympathy calls, and I want to start by making it clear that no one should waste a second feeling sorry for me. For 17 years, I've been getting paid to do what I love most and, in a world with real problems, I've been absurdly lucky. That said, I've been suddenly put in a very public predicament and my bosses are demanding an immediate decision.

Six years ago, I signed a contract with NBC to take over The Tonight Show in June of 2009. Like a lot of us, I grew up watching Johnny Carson every night and the chance to one day sit in that chair has meant everything to me. I worked long and hard to get that opportunity, passed up far more lucrative offers, and since 2004 I have spent literally hundreds of hours thinking of ways to extend the franchise long into the future. It was my mistaken belief that, like my predecessor, I would have the benefit of some time and, just as important, some degree of ratings support from the prime-time schedule. Building a lasting audience at 11:30 is impossible without both.

But sadly, we were never given that chance. After only seven months, with my Tonight Show in its infancy, NBC has decided to react to their terrible difficulties in prime-time by making a change in their long-established late night schedule.

Last Thursday, NBC executives told me they intended to move the Tonight Show to 12:05 to accommodate the Jay Leno Show at 11:35. For 60 years the Tonight Show has aired immediately following the late local news. I sincerely believe that delaying the Tonight Show into the next day to accommodate another comedy program will seriously damage what I consider to be the greatest franchise in the history of broadcasting. The Tonight Show at 12:05 simply isn't the Tonight Show. Also, if I accept this move I will be knocking the Late Night show, which I inherited from David Letterman and passed on to Jimmy Fallon, out of its long-held time slot. That would hurt the other NBC franchise that I love, and it would be unfair to Jimmy.

So it has come to this: I cannot express in words how much I enjoy hosting this program and what an enormous personal disappointment it is for me to consider losing it. My staff and I have worked unbelievably hard and we are very proud of our contribution to the legacy of The Tonight Show. But I cannot participate in what I honestly believe is its destruction. Some people will make the argument that with DVRs and the Internet a time slot doesn't matter. But with the Tonight Show, I believe nothing could matter more.

There has been speculation about my going to another network but, to set the record straight, I currently have no other offer and honestly have no idea what happens next. My hope is that NBC and I can resolve this quickly so that my staff, crew, and I can do a show we can be proud of, for a company that values our work.

Have a great day and, for the record, I am truly sorry about my hair; it's always been that way.

Yours,

Conan
I say good for him for taking the classy way out and being funny while doing it. This is NBC's loss. I sure as hell won't be watching Leno, but I'd pretty certainly watch Conan if he went to another network (Fox?).

Ugh....its the 90s all over again....Letterman VS Leno feud part 2......

But when they announced that Jay would have this primetime thing....I knew it was only a matter of time before a dispute came up like this.and the crap hit the fan.....I am a fan of Jay naturally as my history of being on his show was an experience I wouldn't trade for anything.....but I must say even though I prefer Leno over Conan.....this is wrong on NBC and wrong for Leno to stay...Jay's whole point when he announced Conan would get the keys he wanted to avoid feelings getting hurt...and now his fear that he wanted to avoid just got hit head on.....I mean could have went and stayed in Vegas or go on a comedy tour...Leno if he could have should have announced that instead of setting a timetable that he should have stated something like when he quits or is unable to do the show anymore it would be his request that Conan takes over....

Conan really ripped NBC during the opening of the show tonight. I'm reading rumors this could be his last show. NBC may have guest hosts until Jay returns... I'm kind of doubting that rumor, but its interesting.

Its a huge mess. I prefer Leno over Conan, but Conan got screwed by NBC on this deal. I really don't blame him for leaving NBC.

Fallon has done a good job/gotten better, but NBC should have left their late night line up alone. I understand Conan was promised The Tonight Show, but he worked a lot better on Late Night. Same with Leno on The Tonight Show.

It will be interesting to see what happens with the ratings for Leno when he moves back. Will the viewers go with him? Also I'm interested in what will happen when Conan shows back up on late night TV with Fox, etc...

Anyone think Conan would be a excellent guest for Letterman once he leaves NBC?
