Rue McClanahanRue McClanahan may have pals and confidants, but her heart is not being true to her.
The actress who played feisty Blanche Devereaux on the long-running sitcom, “The Golden Girls,” has been forced to pull out of her own tribute in San Francisco after being hospitalized this week for heart bypass surgery, according to SFGate.com.
"Trust me, I'd rather be in San Francisco having fun and being adored by all of you" than in a New York hospital, McClanahan said in a statement.
PinkPaper.com has some additional scoop from the ailing 74-year-old:
"Unfortunately, my doctor has laid down the law,” she admits. “And I'm currently having some maintenance on the old ticker."
Get well soon, Rue!

Let's hope Betty's in good health!

It seems to be a fairly routine procedure at least, and it looks like it was something done early enough that it won't be a huge health problem later on. Which is very reassuring.

My first instinct was to sing "Over there, over there, send the word..." Sad.
But I'm really glad she's doing well now.

We've already lost Dorothy this year, it's certainly a relief to hear we won't be losing Blanche as well. Get well soon!

Can you believe we only have two Golden Girls left? Scary...

I mean, it's sad that there's only two left, but I can't exactly say it's surprising. Estelle Getty was 84, and Bea Arthur was 86, and both cleary led long and productive lives, so really I couldn't say that either went too soon, at the least. I mean, to still be known and loved by so many in your mid-eighties? That's something.
On a semi-related note and not to threadjack, did you guys see how Bea left $300,000 to The Ali Forney Center for LGBT youth in her will? That's classy.

I didn't mean to say I was surprised by the deaths of Getty & Arthur. Everyone dies, it's just that these women were so vibrant and alive on "Golden Girls". It doesn't feel the same without them.
The show meant a lot to me growing up, and I loved them so much.

Betty was always my favorite, but I'm glad Rue is doing well.

Remember the episode where the girls accompanied Rose back to St. Olaf to collect her "Woman of the Year" trophy? It was a really fun trip!

No, I didn't! I'll ask my grandma, though. She's seen every episode ever made, and a good deal of the spin-off, too.
