I am trying to complete my collection of Disney animated and just got Pochahantas, Lilo & Stich, and Marry Poppins. Now I see they are comming out with Special Editions of those. So my question is should I not open these and wait for the special editions? The only special features I ever watch are the animated shorts. But I have also heard the Poca has a really bad picture. So could you all fill me in? Thank you!

If you don't care for extras, you should be happy with the current Lilo and Stitch disc.
I don't know if the R1 disc of Mary Poppins is anamorphic (The R2 disc is), but if it isn't, I'd advice to wait for the Masterpiece Edition.
The Masterpiece Edition of Pocahontas will probably be much better than the current one.

And if you decide to not open the ones you have (to sit on them), that it´s not a good idea - since the old editions can be hard to get rid off when the new had come out on the market.

The picture quality of PocahOntas is really, really bad! Specialy considering that this is a modern film. I am sure the Masterpiece Edition will be a thousand better!

Mary Poppins will have improved picture and sound quality as well... As for "Lilo & Stitch", I'm sure they are going to use the same transfer and maybe add a DTS track.

I have waited and will continue to wait on Pocahontas and Lilo & Stitch. Unlike your situiation, however, I have not purchased the existing DVDs...and now it's the principle of the matter for me.

I will NOT purchase an inferior (in my mind, anyway) product when something bigger and better has been announced for future release.

I'm glad that of the three (Mary Poppins, Lilo & Stitch, and Pocahontas) I only paid for one, Lilo & Stitch. I got Pocahontas for free from Disney, and I don't have Mary Poppins (although the wait is killing me, I really really really want this movie!!!!) I wasn't aware that Disney was going to be releasing future better editions of these, but I guess I should of known, it is Disney after all. If it were me I would wait for all the Masterpiece Editions, the only one I would keep is Lilo & Stitch, I think it is a pretty good disc as it is.

I have Poch and Lilo, but not Mary Poppins....I will be buying the newer ones when they come out. I like the extras, and will be a fan of the better picture quality especially on Poch...

well I I suggest to you to sell the version you have now, cuase the new versions will be absolutely a lot better that the current ones (specially Pocahontas, that one sucks)..

anyway, I don't think the current Lilo and stitch is a bad DVD, actually that's the one I'm not gonna buy again. but Mary poppins (i don't have that) and Pocahontas (I will give that to any kid), will really worth the wait.

yup, you can always ebay the dvd when the Special Edition are release, knowing disney, you might not know how long you have to wait

I bought the current Lilo and Stitch disc mainly because at the time, I didn't know they were coming out with a SE. I still want Mary Poppins though.

I personally would say to wait..but that is my opinion. My goal is to get the best versions of the Disney films. The DVDs I like most are those that have "making of" features along with several other extras. That is why I am waiting for Lilo and Pocahantas Masterpiece editions.

But it is ultimately up to you!

Welcome to the forum Ballzo if I were you I'll just wait for the Masterpiece Edition it will have more extras then the first relase of Mary Poppins, Lilo & Stitch and Pocahontas.

But if you don't care buy the Gold Collection Mary Poppins and Pocahontas. Lilo and Stitch was just a regular relase but it's up to you Ballzo.

If you have the cash go for it.
