Just wondering if any one else noticed Comcast cable's new on-demand section, Disney family movies. At first I noticed, hm, a good variety of shows (which, regardless of opinions on content.. I think we can all say the current Disney channel lacks any variety) I was so excited though, that they include some really obscure titles too! It'll make it fun to see what shows up.

I couldn't resist signing up, at $5.99 a month to see stuff like 1988's Splash Too! lol. They've also got the frequently mentioned (but non-Disney) 90's movie Susie Q, which I'm watching at the moment. They've got obscure made for tv movies, forgotten stuff, slightly newer animated movies (such as Pocahontas 2) live action stuff like Hocus Pocus and classic animation like Make Mine Music and a few Silly Symphonies. I just thought I'd mention that I'm pleased to see Disney offering up a wider range of titles, even as a premium service.

That's neat... Verizon has a Disney moviel section for its on demand, but it's like that one Princess DCOM with Demi Levato and some other equally uninteresting film.

That's a nice suprise to see some of those Disney rarities show up on television again....albeit premium pay cable service.

I saw that "Treasure of Matecumbe" is up On Demand....is it by chance being shown in widescreen?

we have disney on demand available, but that's it. (Does anyone know if they show new episodes in advance? I want to know if its worth it to add to my service, for say, maybe seeing the new SWAC eps ahead of time)

For those longing for classic Disney movies to be released on DVD, I have found Disney Family Movies On-Demand to have quite a few rare finds. They are currently showing the 1970 Walt Disney Production, "Smoke" starring Ronny Howard. Recently they showed the old World of Color episode, "Brimstone the Amish Horse." They also recently showed "The Electric Knight," the pilot episode of the 80's series called "Sidekicks."

Every week they add new movies and classic cartoons. Many of the films are rare, infrequently seen titles from classic tv or theater or made for tv titles from the 80's and 90's. Many of them have never been released on dvd. I've found it to be a good source of titles that I wish were on dvd. I record them on my DVR and even if it's not as desireable as a proper release on dvd, I'm happy to have them this way instead of not at all. I usually find 2-6 titles a month that I'm happy to watch.

Another rare and classic treat that is currently available for viewing; Niki, Wild Dog of the North, which is long out of print on dvd.

Disney Family Movies On Demand is currently showing "Child of Glass" from 1978. I know many people here have desired this movie. It's available until 11/1/10.

We have three Disney On Demand Channels here in Kansas with Cox Communications.

One of them is a Premium channel and has a monthly charge, while the other two are totally free. The Disney Family Channel has a very good selection, although small, of Disney rarities and then our other free Disney Channel called Walt Disney Family Classics has about 25 titles along with 8 or ten Disney cartoons available.

The previous post mentions several cable channels, so to clear up any confusion, the channel to which this thread refers, and the one currently showing "Child of Glass," is called Disney Family Movies On-Demand. Disney Family Movies On Demand is currently showing "A Disney Christmas Gift," a compilation of Christmas themed animated segments and shorts from 1982.

Currently airing, and unavailable on dvd, is Walt Disney Productions' "Flight of the Grey Wolf" from 1976.

I'm still waiting for TIME WARNER to add this to my local availability. I already subscribe to Disney Channel on Demand, so I will definitely subscribe to this as well.

They also currently have A Mom for Christmas (the TV movie from 1990 with Olivia Newton John, who plays a store mannequin brought to life for the holidays)

My dad added this to my cable for me as a birthday gift. It currently has Wild Hearts can't be broken, Fantasia 2000, Snow buddies (GAG ME), Leroy and Stitch, Gus, Whispers: an elephant tale, the Incredible Journey (1993) and a few others. It was nice seeing a Mickey short w/o the words "short version" attached to it!

Not too shabby, though I hope they add some more familiar movies (I hadn't seen Wild Hearts in several years).

This is just a reminder that Disney Family Movies On Demand is a great source for old Disney movies that haven't appeared on dvd.

Currently they are showing Splash Too, and recently they have shown Disney Sunday Movie titles like Help Wanted: Kids, and the 1980's Shaggy Dog. Older Wonderful World of Disney titles show up from time to time such as Brimstone the Amish Horse which was great to see.

They are offering a free preview where it is available from January 12-16, 2012.

Mine doesn't have Splash TOO......YET I hope its added soon cause I preferred that movie over the original movie.

The theatriical cut of Dr. Synn alias the Scarecrow is among the current offerings on Disney Family Movies On Demand.

If you have BYUtv, they often show older Disney titles. I just watched the documentary "Frank & Ollie" In fact, for anyone still up, I think it airs again tonight at 10pm MST.

They are also showing this month "Newsies" tomorrow, "The Ugly Dachshund" Oct 11, and "Polly" on Oct. 28 and Oct. 29.
