Since Halloween is fast approaching, I've decided to ask everyone what their favorite adaptation (or not) of Bram Stoker's famous novel, "Dracula", was.

I voted for the original "Dracula", though the Spanish version starring Lupita Tovar (filmed at night on the same sets as the Lugosi version) is actually considered the superior production on a photography/direction standpoint.

I also love the other "sequels" to the Lugosi "Dracula", including "Son of Dracula" and "Dracula's Daughter".

Definitely the Francis Ford Coppola, 1992 film.

I have not seen any of the Dracula films, but if I had to pick, I would choose the Bela Lugosi version from 1931.

Also, why isn't Nosferatu on the list? It is based on Dracula.

No, it's an original story that also just happens to be about a young lawyer named <strike>Jonathan Harker</strike> Thomas Hutter who travels to Transylvania to meet a peculiar count called <strike>Count Dracula</strike> Count Orlok who turns out to be a blood-sucking killer vampire!

Joking aside, if Nosferatu were on the list, I'd say it wins.

First thing I noticed on the list was the absence of the 1931 Spanish version which I have got to see (and buy the Legacy Collection).

I have only seen the 1931 English version off that list so I can't comment on the others, but it's hard to top Bela!

"Nosferatu". That's about it.

Failing that, anything with Count Von Count.

Buy the Legacy Collection ASAP! You'll love the Spanish version. It's especially fascinating to see how, even using the same sets as the Lugosi, it manages to create an entirely different movie experience...

In all truth, I can't honestly answer, since I haven't seen ALL of them. But I'm going with the original 1938 version.

I hate to even attempt to pick a fave. I am partial to Christopher Lee's Dracula films, but some of the others I don't remember so well. Though I love the iconic look of Lugosi as Dracula, I have always found that one a bit dull... I would probably say the Copolla one, but I didn't love the Mina/Dracula reincarnated bride a la Dark Shadows love story they had in it, nor did I love Reeves' acting. LOVE Dracula Dead and Loving it and also Love At First Bite.

If you find the Lugosi version dull, then may I also point your attention to the Spanish language production...it's a much more passionate and fluid rendering.

Interesting. I've heard of that one. I can't remember if it is in the Dracula Universal Legacy collection, which I was thinking of getting this month (I currently own the Wolf Man and Frankenstein ones and want to get the rest of the series).

Yep, the Spanish language version is included in the Legacy Collection...

I am not a big fan of Dracula movies.....but this is animated one (not Scooby Doo related) that I like and I think is original...and I rank this movie up with rest of the TV Series of the 90s

"Love at First Bite"! But since it's not one of the options, I vote for Coppola's "Dracula".

Dracula prince of darkness is my vote ,there is romantic and Horor side in there,latest dracula I love to watch Zombie, Frankenstein, Mummy, Vampire Mandarin
