Quick Question for anyone who can help...

So the other day I got the Mariah Carey 3-CD box set. It has Charmbracelet, The Emancipation of Mimi [Ultra Platinum Edition], and E=MC2. All the albums were unwrapped in the box, except for E=MC2 which was shrink wrapped and still had the security tape on it. I had planned on trading in a copy of the album once I bought the box since I had no use for another copy. So I was thinking of going to FYE and saying I got it as a gift and do not want it, and get the $18.99 or however-much-they-charge-for-it store credit. But I was thinking...will they just give me however much they pay when you trade it in? Like, am I better off going elsewhere and doing that? What does everyone recommend?

If its sealed they might give you store credit for what they charge for a new copy. Wal-Mart does this from what I've heard. Of course you probably want get a lot at Wal-Mart compared to FYE.

Barnes & Noble did store credit for sealed items with no receipt, or at least they used to. That might be worth a try, considering they jack up the prices so much you'll probably get a decent price. I dunno how FYE works, having rarely ever gone there. If they take unopened items sans receipt, you should get whatever the standard price FYE would charge for that item new.

FYE will consider it a trade in and will give you about 1/3 of what the sell it used

Darn. I figured they probably would. In two weeks The Proposal comes out on DVD so I guess I'll go to Wal Mart, get store credit for it and use it towards that.
