I don't quite get how this works. Can someone briefly explain it?

I'm not sure if the list will be on Disney's website or wherever, but do a day (meaning a few hours' worth) of volunteering for a preapproved (by Disney) organization, and get a ticket for a free day of Disney park fun. The group I do most of my volunteer work for is included, so I'm excited for my free day!

That's awesome Idea! I will take this to the Make-A- Wish Foundation! Because I'm a volunteer!

I'm so excited for this special promotion! I've always loved volunteering ever since high school and it's great that Disney is rewarded people who do this kind of thing everyday. I imagine there will be people who volunteer just to get a free theme park ticket, but after they volunteer, hopefully they realize the benefits and value of volunteering are way more than a ticket to a Disney theme park.

I'm President of my school student council and I plan to mention this promotion tomorrow to our "sponsors". We usually do three or four volunteer jobs per year, but very few members actually show up. With this extra incentive, we might get people more excited about volunteering in our activities, and an extra volunteer job would certainly be a good thing, too.

Has anyone tried signing up for this yet? I tried dozens of times this morning, and it either times me out or makes me reload, or says the numbers & letters I typed in (you know, to make sure I'm not a robot) were incorrect, or they never displayed the numbers & letters...it's rediculous. I'm pretty upset over it- we're going to use our free tickets from volunteering towards our annual passes. I'm already signed up for upcoming volunteer events through a group I volunteer for, and it just makes sense to get a free ticket for it. I thought about setting my alarm last night to wake me up at midnight, but then I decided against that, that I'd just sign up in the morning.

Anyone else sign up yet? I have an organization that has now received an email and I am supposed to receive a phone call within 5 days to set up my day of service (& my mother's). I want to have it done so that when the Wizarding World of Harry Potter opens I can go to Disney & Hogwarts in a 2 day mini vacation.

This is by far the best thing Disney has done! I like it better than the FREE Birthday!! I hope they do this every year!! You give back (feel good about yourslef) and then get to go to the happiest place on Earth for FREE! What else can one ask for?

Yesterday morning, I went back on the website, and the projects I had already signed up for through my volunteer agency were full, but I got a call from the lady who works there, saying that she'll email project coordinators who couldn't sign up on the Disney website with an alternate method of signing up, so I'm glad about that (although I haven't gotten the email yet).

My mother and I did our day of service yesterday from 8:30am to 3pm. Worked at the Cultural Center handing out shopping bags to about 2,500-3,000 people who came for a big indoor event with lots of vendors with samples & lots of other stuff. Worked our butts off with no break. Do a lot of other volunteering but this felt great because I know in the next two weeks I'll be printing out 2 Disney World vouchers. Going to Disney & Potter's Wizarding World later this year. My hats off to Disney for such a great program.

I'm a (volunteer) project coordinator with a local volunteer group, and it's crazy how many people are signing up for each project...sometimes there just isn't enough work to do with everyone! But some volunteers have mentioned how they think that the Give a Day, Get a Disney Day promotion is great. I do think it's a good idea, but I hope that most people will at least volunteer a little bit in the future, not just a one-shot deal. I haven't printed out my pass yet, but we'll use ours towards our annual passes.

I think he meant that during his 2 day mini vacation, he'll visit not only WDW, but Hogwarts at Universal, too...

Exactly. It's about a 3 hour drive for me to Orlando so I'll be getting a room & spending one day at Disney World & the other day at Hogwarts & then drive straight home. Got the email today from Disney & just printed out the vouchers. Looking forward to my mini vaca later this year.
