I would never...
ever...
ever...
be able to really afford that, but I like the idea of it a lot. I just wish that it was being released in smaller multi-pack sets. Something like having the waves being released all together. That way someone like me, who only recently started feeling bad about not collecting them all along, would be able to get them and not pay $500 in a lump sum.

My first reaction was OMG $500?"
But if you think about it, what you get for that price, it's not all that bad. Just wished I had the money right now (and a job)
I just hope this means that since they packaged them all together, is this the end of the Treasures line?
Is Zorro included in this set?

No, and neither is Elfego Baca and The Swamp Fox

So there are 3 sets missing? I guess the Zorros make sense, but why not the Legendary Heroes one?

Still kicking myself about being too late to get "Your Host, Walt Disney", the second volume of "Silly Symphonies" and the Disneyland Secrets & Magic release.

Kind of neat but... why not wait for the inevitable Blu-ray release? Especially given Disney's love of re-selling the same thing over and over, you know it's coming.

Because Blu-Ray is evil.
By the way, that was a joke. I don't actually mind Blu-Ray (though I have yet to make the leap...I'm such a dinosaur, I know

). As for this set, it seems a reasonably good idea in theory, but I honestly think it's a bit indulgent, and due to a lot of the Disney fans having at least one or two of the titles, a bit excessive. Plus, unless you're an obsessive and/or rich, I don't see the price as being the greatest thing in the world.
I personally think that if Disney were to rerelease the short cartoons again, then they should still release them in character/short specific sets (two or more discs each time), but probably keep them readily available as opposed to just making a few thousand or so, or at the very most keep them available for a time frame of at least a year and a half.

The FYE at my mall has that for $20 or so...the tin is kind of banged up, but they're picky about quality of discs. And I just checked Amazon- it's not badly priced used. Or do you mean you are kicking yourself for not buying it new?
And maybe they're releasing this not on Blu-ray because they know that some people will buy this, and then double-dip once it hits Blu-ray?

I could never afford that either. But if I could, I'd be thankful that I'd never bought any of the Treasures before.
What I'd really like to know is - how long will it be available.

There's no length of availability but a limited number made instead (3000 copies).

They'll
sell an even-more-limited number than that.
And of course, they could change their mind at any time- to stop making this set available. What if it doesn't sell well?

Even if I were a D23 member, I still would not get this as I own many of the treasures that would be included (except for the first Mickey Mouse In Living Color and The Complete Goofy).

This could seem to be a good-enough deal - if one hadn't had some or even all of the Treasures already.

I like my WDT sets as they are a lot better & would never consider getting a set like this. It seems it would be a chore to get a particular disc to view. With the sets already out it's as easy as selecting a volume & loading a disc.

Well, for people who already have some of the Treasures, there's a healthy second hand market for most of the titles you could exploit. Really, it seems like a Win-Win situation (as long as you can get the cash upfront to buy the 54 disc set). However, I really can't understand why this isn't "complete". The omission of Zorro is understandable and can even be justified by the Treasures seemingly moving to another format. But the other omissions are just odd.

That's what I'm hoping for! Once everyone starts buying the huge set, I just want to be able to find the few Treasures I really want that I missed getting at the time rather than shell out $500 for the Treasures I already have, a few sets I want, and a bunch of sets I'm never going to watch (but if I do get it, I can barter with Escapay,

).

This is a great idea but wow... I could never afford that!!!

This is so much money! I wonder if it will sell... it still is a good offer for someone who doesn't own any of the treasures.

I agree - if you don't own any of the Treasure sets, this is an incredible opportunity. I own every sigle one of them, so this doesn't do anything for me, but I'm tempted to buy it for my best friend back home.

I'll give you twenty non-Disney DVDs you want from my collection in exchange for Chronological Donald Volume 3 and any Treasures you already have but would have a duplicate of if you got the 54-disc set.
Anyway, like everyone else has said, I hope this becomes a big seller so that I can find Chronological Donald Volume 3 at a MovieStop or FYE or something for a reasonable price because the previous owner got the 54-disc set.
