In memory of 9/11

I had to make a thread dedicated to all the innocent people who were affected during 9/11.

You don't have to be of a specific nationality, religion, or race to realise just how terrible that day was. As an Arab I just want to say that I'm terribly sorry to anyone who has lost someone they loved because of it, I just want people to know that you shouldn't resort to hate, judge, and generalise people without getting to know them individually.
As a child at school I grew up with the idea that I have to be wary of Jews. One day I met this lovely Jewish woman from Argentina named Marianna on a plane heading to Madrid, and I realized just how dumb and naive that kind of thinking was. Now I know that they are people just like me, many of them happen to be lovely and are very warm-hearted. The day I met Marianna was the day that I started to have my own beliefs and my own opinions as an individual, to me she was a godsend, I might not have the same views that I have today if it wasn't for her.

Right now I'm really angry that my religion has to be judged because of 9/11, while the person responsible is currently hiding in a cave or a sewer (the latter is probably more true) somewhere without giving a f*** about the fact that some people have to wake up every morning and have to deal with the reality that the person that they love and lost is never coming back or the contempt and prejudice that people like me have to deal with wherever they go because of him.

Once again I just want to say that I'm really sorry and depressed about this. :(

I don't personally know anyone who was involved in this tragic event but my heart goes out to those who were. You can't blame a religion or its people for the events that took place but you can blame the people who took advantage of that religion. Its because of them that there is racial/religious intolerance towards those groups, creating a second set of victims.

For everyone affected by the events that took place on 9/11, we dedicate this thread to you.

Really, Jack, you shouldn't be the one apologizing.

I think it's a dreadful commentary on today's society that he feels he needs to apologize.

Well it's not that I think that it's my fault... It's just that I wanted to share my views and feelings on the issue to somebody.
I want people to know that nobody wanted this to happen in the first place because I know that there are a lot of people who assume that we're ok with it for some reason, when the truth is we're not.

I agree you shouldn't apologize Jack....though I see where your coming from....I mean....my philosphy on any kind of terrible people is...people who have the same skin color as some cult of Maniacs doesn't mean oh any muslims are bad too....the same goes for christians and americans and anyone....like earlier in the year there was a abortion doctor murdered and the killer said he was acting for god.....Now honestly I don't associate my christian beliefs enough to kill a man....hence on the ten comandments thy shall not kill another man.... My point is...there are going to be bad people out there political or domestic or more....but I do not believe the bad person's religon or people who look similair in skin color should take the blame....

with that being said......My heart goes out to all the 9/11 families and those who were affected by it....I think we can all say we all remember where we were when the attack or we learned of the attack...I remember where I was and I remember it almost like it was yesterday.....

It's kind of hard to believe that it has been 8 years since this terrible event occured. I did not lose anyone close to me on that day, but my thoughts go out to the families that did (Yes, I know I am a day late).
