(4/18/09) According to Orlando Attractions Magazine, Disney has found a way around that exclusive use contract Universal signed with Kuka it seems, as a new Innoventions attractions is on the way called The Sum Of All Thrills that will end with guests being able to take a ride on a Kuka Robocoaster arm ride. The Disney version however, will likely enclose the riders inside an enclosed cabin, much like Cyberspace Mountain over at DisneyQuest. Look for it to open around the end of 2009.
8/31/09) Epcot guests will soon experience a new attraction at Innoventions East called The Sum of all Thrills, presented by Raytheon. “Using the latest technology, Sum of all Thrills will inspire visits to engineer their own ride and then experience it firsthand in a state-of-the-art simulator." From what I’ve been led to believe, based on concept art posted to Raytheon’s website, this new “simulator” experience will actually be a Kuka Robocoaster with some kind of enclosure over the riders for the display screens. Talk about trying to steal Universal’s thunder… the same Robocoaster style robot arm ride system, minus the projection covering, is what is going to be used on the upcoming Harry Potter ride at Islands of Adventure. You can see a picture of a prototype version of this kind of Robocoaster posted to the Kuka website.
(9/7/09) A memo went up for Cast Members indicating that they would be casting for the new Sum of All Thrills attraction very soon. A CM preview session is expect to take place sometime near the end of the month.
