So I just saw today that this was happening!

My first reaction was OMG YES! After all, this event of one of my favorite television events ever while it was on.

However....

After seeing the line up, I became dismally disappointed. When I envision Divas I think of the original '98 line up. Mariah Carey, Shania Twain, Aretha Franklin, Celine Dion, and Gloria Estefan were all musical legends when they performed. The '99 show being under the same influence by having Whitney Houston, Tina Turner, Cher, and Brandy. This years lineup is Leona Lewis, Kelly Clarkson, Miley Cyrus, Adele, and Jordan Sparks. Paula Abdul is hosting the show. Granted there are two more Divas that haven't been announced yet, but this current line up disappoints me greatly. When I envision a Diva none of these artist really come to mind. I don't feel that they have been around long enough or have the same credentials to support the title of the show.

My hope is that the final picks are Mariah and Whitney. They both have new albums out this month, and they are both sensational musicians that have achieved things in the music industry some of the artists on the current list will only dream of. It only seems appropriate for them to add some bigger names.

Aside for my bitterness I am still excited for the show and will definitely tune in! Hopefully it's a hit and it can raise a lot of money for Save the Music!

Divas? Please! These girls have a looooong road ahead of them if they even want to be mentioned in the same sentence as Whitney, Mariah and Celine...

I was initially ecstatic about this too, but I found out who's gonna be one the show... ugh.

In all seriousness. This is just another attempt to take Miley Cyrus out of her Disney bubble and trick the audiences into thinking she's talented and grown up now. It's nothing but a marketing strategy.

Untill Disney's little fembot goes haywire like Lindsay Lohan, then everyone will look the other way and pretend nothing ever happened.

While I wasn't a big fan of all of the artists back in the 98 show (though I had soft spots for Gloria, Mariah and Celine back then :3 ) the show was indeed awesome.

None of these girls strike me as divas. They are more like bubblegum pop girls. I associate divas with very talented women with long careers behind them, like the original operatic term.

I doubt these girls could pull off moments like this.

It aint DIVAS without these ladies!

But the question is, from the pictures which is the odd one out?

Either Mariah because the rest are completely black or Aretha 'cus she's HUUUUUUGE!
