Im excited for these releases. I would love to see some more bonus features on Kiki and Totoro, and I hope we get to see that super long documentary for Ponyo.
Also, this
site reports that the release date for Ponyo is October 28, although that seems a little early, and it reports 3 different releases.
PONYO DVD WS (Net) (C: 0-1-3) 10/28/09 SRP: $19.99 = $
PONYO DVD SPEC ED (Net) (C: 0-1-3) 10/28/09 SRP: $32.99 = $
PONYO BLU-RAY (Net) (C: 0-1-3) 10/28/09 SRP: $39.99 = $

This is exciting news, although I am curious if that release date can be right. I don't think there will be any new bonuses on the rereleases since they already had great 2-disc sets. I have a feeling this is being done solely to capitalize on Ponyo's success and to highlight other great Myazaki films to people who are just discovering his work through Ponyo. My only hope is that the other three titles make their Blu-Ray debut alongside of Ponyo's Blu-Ray.

I am looking forward to owning Ponyo on DVD so I can hear it in its original language. I might also get the re-releases of Castle in the Sky and Kiki's Delivery Service (I already own Totoro).

I'll see how many of these I can get. I don't own any Miyakzaki films, so I know I'm buying at least two.

Hmm, October 28? Man, I hope that's the right release date.
Ponyo didn't open near me, yet I really wanna watch it. Blind buy for me.

The only one I've seen of that list is Kiki, but I definitely want to see Ponyo and have an interest in all other Ghibli movies, and I've been putting off buying any because of the high prices (22 dollars for a bare-bones DVD?!?). But maybe I'll spring for these, or at least wait until they're a little cheaper.

October 28th is not the release date. For one thing, it's a Wednesday. For another, it's too tiny a theater-to-video window for Ponyo.

I still have not seen Kiki's Delivery Service, despite how often Disney would air it back in the day. I'll probably have to pick that and Totoro up when they come out.
I may also get Ponyo, depending on whether or not I get to see it before it comes to DVD or depending on how I like it if I do. Castle isn't a favorite, but I may end up buying that as well at some point, depending on whether I'm in the mood to give it another shot or not.

The first Ghibli film I saw was KiKi and I still only own it on VHS. Whenever it comes to Blu-ray, it will be a first day purchase for me (I love it to bits). I would like to see Ponyo but I'm not exactly sure how I would like it; but I'll probably just buy it anyway (Ghibli is awesome!). I wonder when we are going to get that release of Princess Mononoke that Disney promised us a year or two ago?

Good thing I dont have any of those on DVD. I'm looking forward to seeing the special features.
I still prefer the original FOX english dub of Totoro though

I've never seen one of Ghibli's films. I'll be sure to blind buy these though since I've heard so many positive things about them.

I'd expect Ponyo no earlier than mid-December, and it may even be smart to position it on December 26 (like the Toy Story 2 re-release was) to get it a little out of the way of the fourth quarter glut and instead take advantage of post-Christmas gift card spending.
I'm really surprised about the reissues since they all already got two-disc sets, although only because of the inclusion of the complete storyboard version of the film. Still, I don't think I'll buy Kiki again until it shows up on Blu, since I watched it recently and it looks absolutely great in its current transfer.

I won't be rebuying any of them unless they are on Blu-Ray, but I'll for sure get Ponyo. I don't think they will make any new bonus features for them.

If Kiki comes to Blu-ray, I'll buy it since it's my favorite non-Disney/Pixar animated film of all time. I'm happy with my Totoro DVD, so I'll just keep that, and since I've never seen Castle in the Sky, I may blind buy it should it also come to BD.

It's a great thing I haven't purchased any of these. The only Ghiblis that I have are Princess Mononoke, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, and Grave of the Fireflies. I'm going to buy all of them. I hope Disney plans on releasing atleast Ponyo on Bluray if not all of them.
And I think that the release date of October 28 is a bit obscure. It will be in December and most likely before Christmas.

Totoro and Castle in the Sky have making of specials on there Japanese DVDs that were left off of the US DVDs. It would truly be special if Disney included the old English dubs for Castle in the Sky, Totoro, and Kiki.
Still no news on Only Yesterday, Ocean Waves and Earthsea.

Regarding
Tales from Earthsea, Wikipedia says this:
- Licensing problems are in the way of a North American release of Gedo Senki. The Sci-Fi Channel, released the miniseries Legend of Earthsea in 2004 and has rights to the property until 2009. Without permission from the Sci-Fi Channel the film cannot be released any earlier than 2009, when the miniseries is taken off the air, in which case Sci-Fi's rights expire.
Anyway, I'm glad to hear there will be Special Editions for the older Ghibli titles, but come on, when will we get one for
Princess Mononoke? Or as LRH said, any type of release for
Only Yesterday and
Ocean Waves?

I will definitely be buying Ponyo on Bluray as I already have the Japanese DVD. I hope that they release Kiki, Totoro, and Castle in the sky on Blu too.

Gedo Senki has been confirmed for a July 30, 2010 release. Finally.
Also, I found some covers for Ponyo. I actually really like them.

They're both almost identical, except for the extended title in the one on the right.
Anyway, love the cover! Simplicity always has the best DVD covers.
