I am looking at selling the Treasures dvds. I have the first 6 waves collected, sealed and have lost interest in continuing this habit of collecting everything that Disney decides to put out there.

My question is, are the Treasures worth the same market value either opened or sealed? I have looked at the market and it does not seem to make much difference on ebay between the two.

I have watched these from the library and like the content , just do not want them cluttering up my place anymore. The same thing goes for the regular Disney dvds.

Any one out there who knows a bit more about the market please reply.

It really depends per treasure. They are worth more with the tin, because Disney did sell some of them at stores without tins, so I would highlight the tin in each auction. Some Treasures weren't popular, like the Tomorrowland set, but you should make quite a bit of cash on some of them.

Well i was planning on selling them with the tin, i just want to open them to scan the pics into my computer since i cannot get these at the library.

That is why i was wondering if that would have much effect on the price I would get for selling these.

Even if it slight, there must be a premium for unopened. I would not open them.

I have over 800 DVDs and if there was anything I would not part with it is my Treasures and Looney Toon Golden Collections. But good luck selling them anyways.

Yes its not necessary to open them. Just take a picture of the tins. To most people its the condition of the tin packaging that is a concern with buyers/collectors and its really not necessary to scan anything that is inside. They will certainly sell faster and maybe higher still sealed.

soo umm...to interject my voice here...if you have Silly Symphonies (volume 1) which i'm assuming you do since you said you have all the first 6 waves, then please let me know about it, and what you're thinking of selling it for.

That aside, I agree with everyone else: you will get much more money if you leave it in the shrink wrap. just photograph the tins, and if it applies, the limited number on the outside of the tin.

I'd agree, it goes individual Treasure to Treasure. Most likely there are some that could sell for more opened then others that are unopened. If I were you I'd go over to eBay and watch how much each sells for and how many bids those sets get and what sells at what price for a better idea.

I concur with those who said leave them unopened. There isn't a reason to scan what's inside for the eBay listings- people buying them know what they're getting!

Anyway, my question is, are the black double dvd cases inside the tins supposed to be sealed too? Its been a while since I opened my last Treasure and I couldn't remember how they were packaged.

I just received a factory sealed copy of "On the Front Lines" in the mail, and for some reason I was surprised that the dvd case wasn't also sealed.

How do all of those sealed copies with no tins get out there?

IIRC, the cases are not sealed inside the tins.

Some of the treasures have been sold outside of their tins (Costco collections, etc.), so those ones would have been sealed.
