Good to know. I bought the first season at Wal-Mart's $5 bin, though they haven't stocked the second or third. I hope they'll stock those as well as the fourth.

You're welcome. The series is bit quaint for some viewers today, but I really like it; good stories, good values, and they manage to work in bits of medieval history quite well.

I've been watching season one with my mother. I have very fond memories of this series from childhood, and rewatching it has not let me down. It appears that season one is not in the correct order on the DVD as there are stories about paying the ransom for King Richard after he has already returned.

Is anybody here an authority on the series?

Alpha has released over a dozen individual volumes from the show too. Are the Mill Creek ones still from Public Domain?

I'm not an authority, but I checked the episode order on the Season One set (the only one I have, I need to get the other three seasons), and compared it with the airdate order listed on wikipedia and epguides. All three are in the same order. I'm guessing that the continuity issues were something inherent during the original production?

I believe so. But they have released all the episodes (and in season sets) whereas Alpha Video's are random 4-episode compilations.

I am certainly no authority on the show, just a big fan. I bought Mill Creek's Season 1 release as a blind buy simply because I like the Robin Hood stories and films (Disney's The Story of Robin Hood and His Merrie Men and Warner Brothers' The Adventures of Robin Hood being my favorites). After watching the first few episodes I was hooked and subsequently bought the remaining seasons.

The series is very well written, the acting is terrific, and the production values are quite good for a series on a limited budget. Mill Creek's releases do appear to be public domain ones since the overall quality is quite poor, but they do cover the complete series as opposed to the Alpha releases Albert mentioned. Sadly, given the declining DVD market, I wouldn't anticipate any type of cleaned up remastered DVD or Blu-Ray releases any time soon.

Glad to hear that there are other fans of the series out there!

I'll have to check this show out. I'm a big fan of the two films you mentioned and don't like as much this current modern trend of making Robin more "realistic" and less of a legend and mythological. I like him just like that, a fantasy meant to instill ideals of honor, bravery, and helping those who can't help themselves. Sounds like this show is more of that.

I think you will really enjoy this series, especially if you liked the Disney and Warner Brothers versions of the legend. Mill Creek offers each of the four individual season sets separately (seasons 1 through 3 are 3-disc sets and season 4 is a 2-disc set) and an 11-disc complete series set as well.

I love the Robin Hood series. I just ordered the entire series from Amazon for the ridiculous price of $19.97.

The sets intrigue me. I'm picturing that they had a bunch of castle walls, doors and staircase pieces in stock that they would rearrange into the castle du jour.

Why did Victor Woolf have to play multiple roles, sometimes in a single episode?

Why did Robin ever think the Sheriff would be fooled by his simple disguises?
