This year for Disney's HalloweenTime, Disneyland will debut a halloween overlay of Space Mountain called Ghost Galaxy (which debuted in Hong Kong). The attraction will be down for two weeks in September for the change out and will debut September 25th. Haunted Mansion Holiday will return that day as well!

Also, Disneyland will have a new Halloween fireworks show (the park's second new fireworks show in three months!) hosted by Jack Skellington.

Can't wait! :D

Here's the poster for Space Mountain's Halloween makeover as "Ghost Galaxy." It's going to be based on the one in Hong Kong Disneyland, but toned down a bit. Those Chinese like their Halloween closer to "Knotts Scary Farm" that "Mickey's Halloween Time."

That makes perfect sense to me and I am a bit relieved as I wanted to take the little members on my family on it.

I hope to get on Hong Kong's on my next trip. Their Halloween stuff seems really darker than the US or Tokyo's.

I'm too tired to read this now, but the article has something to do with Ghost Galaxy:

How long will Ghost Galaxy be up for? And do you think it'll come every year?

I went on it last night. It was actually really good. What I liked almost as much as the ride was the lighting and projection package the exterior received at nighttime. That was really creepy, for Disneyland anyway.

The video I posted doesn't show much; is there a way you could spoil the ride for us and tell us how it's different than the regular Space Mountain? Please? :) Highlighting in white is your friend for spoilers! :)

Sure, in the video you get a pretty good idea of the audio couple that with visuals...basically, "Bob", the space mountain ghost, appears through projections throughout the ride. The coolest effect is when he is actually chasing your rocket. It is a bit intense, but I think older kids will be OK to ride it. No changes to the track or anything like that, but they did manage to overlay the Ghost perfectly to appear on many turns and drops.

What I LOVED was the exterior overlay of the mountain. Thoughout the night you can hear Bob trying to espace the mountain. Through projections you can see him banging up against the mountain trying to escape.

As he does this, "dust" falls down the side of the mountain. At one point he makes the moutain crumble down, it later rebuilds itself through wireframe projections.

Other sequences on the exterior are electric shocks, Bob clawing at the mountain, and a few others.

It REALLY gives Tomorrowland a whole new feel.

Very cool! Thank you! :) Too bad WDW didn't get this- some family is down so if the Mickey's Not So Scary party isn't sold out yet for Thursday, I'll get to go.

I would imagine it would be a lot more work to install it at WDW. HKDLs and DLs Space Mountains are practically twins, so it was a lot easier.

Disneyland posted some video on Youtube.

Oh I went on this last time I went to Disneyland and it was pretty cool! I rode it with my friend Vicki and she isn't exactly a big fan of coasters so I was kind of worried how much she wouldn't like it and even more so since I've never seen this Ghost Galaxy buisness before.. She was scared out of her mind but loved every second.

I hope they do this every Halloween, it really helps theme out the season and makes Space Mountain a tad more fun during it.

Definately enjoyed this last year, and made a point of going on it twice each visit while it was up.
And i generally go to Disneyland two whole days and every friday night after work every week.
will be really cool if ghost galaxy comes back this year, unlike Haunted Mansion Holiday which i really dont care for.
