Okay, I'm gonna try my best to answer your question.
First of all, if you don't mind me asking, how old are you? Equally so, can you tell us what your education? Are you or were you at college? If so, what did you do or what are you doing? That would give me a good idea of what path you have begun to go down.
I'm guessing that you're fairly young (under 25), but don't think that a career is permanent; you can end up one day having one job, get bored of it and change to another job. There are relatively few people who keep the same job forever.
As far as travelling due to the job goes, it depends. Everyone dreams about having a job where the commute is sometimes by plane. I have to admit, though, that you may have to actually live abroad for some time and (gasp!) have to use/learn a language other than English for quite a number of places. Sure, English might be the world's most widely known language, but You've also gotta then consider stuff like work permits and visas. In a country like France (which you mentioned that you wanted to see), the paperwork for one non-European is probably as tall as the Eiffel Tower.
One possible option which will allow you to go abroad (and to Europe at that) is to become an English language assistant for the year. (that's teaching English as a foreign language in European schools). Obviously, you'll have to have a good knowledge of a foreign language, but it's worth a look, I suppose:

I hope all goes well.
