I was just looking at Amazon.com at the list of GC titles, and it looks like "The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad" has been pulled into "The Vault." Is this a sign of a re-release or is this because of Mr. Toad's new WDAC disc? I hope it's NOT the latter. That'd be...... stupid.

Actually, it wouldn't surprise me if we got a 60th anniversary edition around Halloween!

It doesn't make much sense to re-release it in the near future - half of it has just been released on the Disney Animation Collection disc.

I'd expect at least 12 moths from now before a mid to high profile re-release.

Shouldn't we see "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" Disney Animation Collection, first -- for Halloween - - perhaps with "Lonesome Ghosts," "Trick or Treat," "The Mad Doctor" and "Pluto's Judgment Day" as extras?

The featurette version was always a big seller back in the Mini-Classics era and once-open-a-time was a Halloween tradition on TV (when they used to show Walt Disney things).

That would be excellent. I'd definitely upgrade my Gold Collection to a new one.

I was hoping they were going to do that in the Classic Cartoon Favourites series as a special "Volume 13" for Halloween. Would've been a nice supplement to the two Christmas volumes.

Okay, this brings up a few questions for me. Did Sleepy Hollow have the stuff about Washington Irving on it too when it was released on its own, and was it ever released on its own on DVD, or just on VHS?

Also, I had Ben and Me on VHS until it came out in the Treasures collection, but it was hard to part with the tape because it did have the stuff about Amos's ancestors and all. Has that longer version ever been released on DVD in one of those shorts collections?

Oh yeah, that movie turns 60 this year! Haha. Good thought. I really hope they don't release the parts separately as two different WDACs. That would be laaaaaaaaaaaaaaame. I'd probably update if they released a new disc if it had good content and a good transfer.

I agree bout a 60th Aniv. upgrade, I really enjoy this package film especialy the Wind In The Willows section, beautifuly animated and you can tell that Walt was tryin to make it a big scope of story tellin.

The theatrical featurette version of "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" did not have the Washington Irving Story on it, that was unique to the hour-long TV version shown on Disneyland, Wonderful World of Color, etc. That footage has never made it to video in any form that I know of (another reason we need TV anthology DVD sets). (Same answer for "Ben and Me" - - that was the Walt-era TV version).

"Sleepy Hollow" was released alone in at least three different VHS versions, but never on DVD, sadly. It used to be a big deal show on TV but the neo-executives let it slip away for a generation now. Don't even show it at Halloween! Not PC maybe? Sad.

And, yeah, I hate that they never show it anymore, or most classic Halloween or Christmas programming really.

I just got it from Toys R Us. I never got to see Wind in the Willows before. Years ago it was going to air on ABC but got prempted for news coverage of the hijacking of TWA 847 the hostages had just been released. I was bummed out.

Who knew some of that reissued VHS/real Disney Channel era material would never be seen again in 20 years!

I seriously hope another edition is released within the next year, especially a restored one. Ichabod and Mr Toad is one of my favorites, and I think an unknown gem to most in Disney animation, and I thought the current Gold Collection transfer looked horrible. I hope it gets a digital restoration it deserves.

I hate how these stopgap 40s anthology films keep getting the short shrift compared to the other Disney animated features. It's time to give "Saludos Amigos," "The Three Caballeros," "Make Mine Music," "Fun and Fancy Free," Melody Time," and "The Adventures of Ichabod and Mister Toad" their due (granted, they did reissue the first 2 on one disc, but the part where Goofy was smoking a cigarette was still excised from "Saludos Amigos"...which means I suppose we'd also get "Make Mine Music" minus 'The Martins and the Coys' and "Melody Time" minus Peco's Bill's cigarette once more as well -- this could all be fixed by a simple disclaimer for the kiddies at the beginning like the one they did for "Pinocchio" ).

I completely agree that the "package" DACs from the 40's deserve better treatment on DVD. 3 are edited (with Make Mine Music being all-out butchered), and in the Gold Collection versions they were given mono-only mixes and in some cases (Ichabod and Toad) poor transfers.

Since I didn't have the Gold versions, I did get the "Classic Caballeros Collection" even though the small Saludos Amigos edit was still there, because my rationale was I would gladly have paid for seperate releases for both films unedited. So I treat the disc like I bought an uncut Cabelleros for $14.99 with a slightly edited Saludos included as a bonus feature. I'm glad to have these two films on DVD as I really enjoy them, and since music really drives these films and is a highlight for me, I enjoy the stereo mixes. I would have liked to see at least some of the numorous bonus features that were on the laserdisc, though. I do enjoy "South of the Border with Walt Disney".

Anyway, add me to the list of fans who would like to see "Ichabod and Mr. Toad" and the other "package" DACs re-released with better editions, UNCUT in the case of Melody Time and especially Make Mine Music.

And while we're at it, how about Song of the South and a retail release of So Dear To My Heart as well!

That entire era of post-Bambi, pre-Cinderella 40's animation is very musical, very colorful, and, unfortunately, very overlooked and underrated!

As well as the posters above me, I hate the way the package films have been treated. I kinda wish that Disney would release restored uncut versions of the films as part of the Walt Disney Treasures line. We all know that the huge Disney fans are pretty much the only ones aware of the existence of these films, so the Treasures line would be a good home for the films. The GCC DVDs are... well... crap. The only GCC package film DVD with notable features is the Fun and Fancy Free DVD with the Making-Of Featurette carried over from the VHS/Laserdisc. I'd like to see some more Making-Of featurettes and other stuff. These films deserve respect.

As for Song of the South and So Dear to my Heart, they both need proper releases as well. Song of the South needs a good respectful release with a disclaimer and making-of, etc. So Dear to my Heart needs better bonus features than on the current Exclusive DVD, although I doubt that will happen even when it does get retail time.

Well, a lot of people are aware of several of these films' segments ('Mickey and the Beanstalk,' 'The Wind in the Willows,' 'Casey at the Bat,' etc.) -- they're just not aware that they were originally compiled into these films with other shorts. I'd also like to see the Sterling Holloway-narrated version of 'MatB' included as an extra on "Fun and Fancy Free."

I also agree about "Song of the South" and "So Dear to My Heart." Basically anything that Walt personally oversaw deserves star treatment.

In actuallity they have not sold copies of The Adventures of Ichabod & Mr.Toad for many years now. However you CAN get copies of said movies on EBay !!! Though I think a lot of you should know that China sells a lot of them. So don't be suprised if you postmark says China in it.
