I love the movie, but don't know how well it will do as a series... It seems the only thing it might have in common aside from the title is the school. I hope they don't try to re-do the characters from the movie.

I hate it when they do these things,
Turning perfectly good movies into standard TV fare.
I hate they're gonna cast a bunch of crappy actors.
I hate the way they're gonna make us stare.
I hate those big, fat producers,
And the way they pretend they can read our minds.
I hate it so much it makes me sick,
It even makes me steal someone else's rhyme.
It doesn't even sound right.
It makes me scream "Why, God, why?"!
I really hate things like this,
Most times they make me cry.
They make me walk around
and bang my head against the wall
But mostly I hate that I
Can't stop this thing from happening.
I'm not even close, not even a little bit,
Not even at all.
*waits for his post to be described as an epic fail*

^Nice poem.
And you can do something about it, unless you can't rally.

You expressed yourself and what most of feel really well Mooks.
How long ago did thismovie appear in the theaters and then on DVD?
Why this movie? Hollweird is just getting 'weirder' by the day.
No originality, no creativitism, and they are afraid to spend a buck to get a good writer for something original.
I'll pass on this.

Personally, I've always wanted to see a weekly television series loosely based on a Shakespearian comedy. Maybe they'll use the Elizabethan shrew taming pamphlets for inspiration.

See i think this is a good choice because it doesnt seem like it is going to be exactly like the movie, just inspired by it. Like i think it will just have the same set up, and i bet the characters will be similar but not exactly the same. Its just a good premise for a show about highschool...

Why would you think that? I mean, what would the point be of making a TV show based on a movie based on a Shakespearian comedy if not to have the same characters?

Forget "10 Things I Hate About You/Taming of the Shrew." I want a teen-based television show based on "Titus Andronicus." Nothing says teen angst like a lot of people killing each other.

They'll have the same names, but be different actors than the movie.

It could be kind of like Saved By the Bell: The New Class- the stereotypes are similar (the smart-alek, the hot girl, the smartypants, etc.)...it's based off of the original SBtB, but with different characters.

...A Cameron who is not Joseph Gordon-Levitt is no Cameron for me.
I bet there's a Heath Ledger joke in here somewhere, but in the interest of good taste, I shall refrain.

I just watched the teaser commercial (that Kate posted and I didnt check out because I thought it was just something on the movie...?) and a sneak peak. It actually looks good. Very similar to the movie. I don't get ABC Family anymore, so I can't watch it unless it's available online, but I would check it out. Will it be a half-hour show?

I just saw the sneak peak and I will be skipping this show. It does not look like it would hold my interest.

Yeah i believe it will be a half hour.. Guys, i dont understand all the negativity, the dad from the original is in it so i feel like if he's supporting it it has to do the movie justice. Also he's just hilarious in general, have yall seen him in the christopher guest movies?

...or he's getting a good paycheck to appear in it. Either or.

He is, that's true, but to a certain point you're only as good as the material you're given. I like George Clooney, but that doesn't make "Batman & Robin" any less of a steaming pile of festering celluloid.

Watched about 90 seconds of the "sneak preview" (played after The Corpse Bride, which for whatever reason I watched last Saturday)...
Dreadful, to say the least. I never thought the movie was great. It's okay. But this pilot, whatever, makes the movie look like a full-on masterpiece. This series will be pure (insert nasty descriptive word for you-know-what here).
