This is just a general question to all Disney and Pixar film buffs. Has anyone heard or has a web link for info on a Monsters Inc 2.

Welcome to the forums, Dew.
As far as I have heard/read, Pixar is contractually obligated to do two more films (
The Incredibles-2004 and
Cars-2005) and I doubt very much that they would also be taking the time to develop a sequel to
Monster's Inc. Especially since sequels do not count towards their contractual fulfillment.
I would also assume that any animated sequel done by Disney would be, ummm, less-than-successful.

I know that Disney can make a Toy Story sequel by themselves because they have rights to the characters, but Monsters Inc. was released as part of the 50/50 deal between them. Like Indy says though, if Disney were to do it on their own, the results would probably be disastrous.
Not to mention that MI has a great ending that cries out for NOT having a sequel.
Let me echo the hoosier's welcome to you.

How about a prequel?
yeah i know its stupid but it could tell how Mike and Sully first got their jobs at Monsters Inc.

Well, I thought I read once that Pixar was thinking of a sequel to both Monster's Inc. and Toy Story. However, they stated they wouldn't do anything untill they had a story just as good, if not better than the original, which then will take more time... assumably.

I think it's less stupid than a sequel, since the film kind of lends itself to a backstory. Still, I'd rather not see one.

Hey all, I think I found the reason why Disney has pushed back Monsters Inc.

That link doesn't seem to offer any articles for me, but it seems like Pete Docter really was hinting on a sequel. I hope so!

Read post #32 and you'll see that the rumour was a lie.

Must Disney ALWAYS ruin a good thing by making a second rate sequel?

According to the post above yours,
Monsters Inc. 2 is just a rumor.
By the way, Pixar did make a good sequel with
Toy Story 2. As fas as I'm concerned, that was on par with the original film. After that one, I'd say
Monsters Inc. was Pixar's finest film. So if they could pull of a sequel as good as
Toy Story's, I'd like to see it.

I think Pixar's proven they can do good sequels.
Anyway, I doubt Disney would be holding the BLu-ray off for another 4 years, even though they held off the LaS:SE DVD. I'm certain the blu-ray was just to coincide with the blu release of "Up", just as "Cars" and "Pixar Short Films" were released day and date with "Ratatouille".
Either way, I like the sound of a "Monsters, 2"!

My opinion on this is: Monsters Inc is BETTER as a STAND ALONE film no matter how good the second one is. It ended well with us wanting to see Boo for one last time. Making a sequel would ruin the feeling.

Yeah...I don't know how I should feel. But knowing Pixar, I'm sure they'll think of something.

I'm so-so about this news. MI is m absolute favorite Pixar movie, so I hope a sequel can do justice. Then again, this is Pixar, so hopefully it'll be even better than the original.
