Anyone have any idea when we will see non platinum edition disney animated classics on Blu-Ray.

For example:
Dumbo
Robin Hood
Aristocats
Sword in the Stone
Great Mouse Detective
Rescuers

A few of these were released recently so I am assuming 5 years or so?

Another question is do you think that the non PE classics are going to get a nice transfer for Blu-Ray?

While nobody has an answer to your question, I am hoping within a year we will start to see non-Platinum DACs getting HD releases. While 5 of the 6 titles you listed probably won't see Blu-Ray releases for at least 5 years if they get them at all, I would say that Dumbo is a likely title for release. The main reason is because it is heavily rumored to get a 3-D theatrical release if Beauty and the Beast does well in that format.

Due to the large restoration that would be needed for the non-CAPS features to look pristine in HD, I'm guessing the first titles will be from the 90's and 00's. Personally, I'm thinking that Tarzan will be the first because it's visually stunning, well known, no restoration is needed, it lends itself well to HD picture and sound, and the bonus features from the 2-disc set can easily be recycled.

I would assume the same really. I think that Pocahontas would also be another very probably title. If not Tarzan and Pocahontas, maybe even Hercules, Hunchback, or Mulan. I say these because they still did relatively ok and wouldn't need an extensive restoration if any at all. I personally am hoping it'll be Hercules considering it's been rumored to be secretly vaulted recently and it's previous release is on sale at stores like Target (it was only $13 at mine today).

I don't know which will be first -- Disney is clearly trying to milk the last drops from the DVD well before debuting those titles on Blu-Ray. My guess is that they wait for next Christmas before we start seeing some animated catatlog titles on Blu. Hercules, anyone?

I agree with Rudy Matt. It seems evident, especially with the US release of the 2 disc Lilo and Stitch.

I hope Emperors New Groove gets debuted soon.

Tarzan and the Emperor's New Groove will be the first. Well technically Chicken Little was the first, but Tarzan and ENG will be the next non-platinum non debut on home video releases on Blu Ray.

This would make sense and I bet other direct CAPS ports will be among the first to show up. With those 2 titles and ample amount o bonuses have already been made so it would be a relatively cheap thing to do to put a Blu out for those titles. I would also expect soon:

Pocahontas
Treasure Planet
Brother Bear
Lilo and Stitch (I know)
Home on the Range
Aladdin (if it 'aint bein' Platinum anymore)
Atlantis
Mulan

They would have to do some major effort for Rescuers Down Under, Hunchback and Hercules though (both for picture but more for bonuses).
