General TV Chat Thread

I hope this is alright with the mods, I was thinking of an "all-in-one" thread where people post about a show they're currently watching, one they hate or an old favorite.
It could be general observations, recommendations, questions, pet peeves, and so on, without cluttering up the forum with a new thread for each new post.

I'd like to start things off with 8 Simple Rules... For Dating My Teenage Daughter.
Knowing that John Ritter died early in the second season, it almost felt surreal watching him just living in a sit-com world during the first season.
I noticed a few moments that could almost be considered prescient, where he would say things like "This will probably be our last vacation as a family," or "I may not always be around to help you out of a problem."
Obviously, those lines were supposed to mean the kids were growing up and didn't want to do "family things", or they might move out several years in the future, and wouldn't have the parents close by, etc., but it was still kind of eerie to hear John's character utter those lines.

Does anyone remember this great show? It is yet another casualty of Fox, cancelled before it's time.
The DVD set is pretty cheap to find, probably about $20-25.
This is set around 2063 A.D., Earth's first colony gets attacked out of the blue by an unknown alien force. The show follows a group of Marines (the 58th) based on a space carrier as they fly space fighters, go on ground assaults, and other activities.
While fighting the alien "Chigs", they also have to battle human A.I.s who rebelled 10-15 years ago after a virus told them to "Take a chance."
There are also some racial issues, as there are "In Vitros" or "Tanks" who are humans who were grown in vats, they were supposed to fight the A.I.s, but many refused. They have navels on their necks, and are called "Nipplenecks" as a derogatory term. There is one In Vitro on the 58th, and then there is a high ranking In Vitro on the space carrier "The U.S.S. Saratoga" who commands the 58th.

Watching Religiously:
-George Lopez Season 2 (I already watched season 1, since it was only a few episodes and S1 and S2 are on the same set)
-Hannah Montana Season 1
-Two and a Half Men Season 4
Watching Randomly
-What I Like About You Season 1 (saw all the episodes on TV)
-Fresh Prince Season 1 (just can't get as in to it as I thought I would)
-SNL Season 1 (the episodes are just SO long!)
-The Sopranos Season 1 (re-starting the series because I started watching it and got a few episodes into S6 Pt. 2, and I just didn't have time to finish it, and am now confused, so I'm just starting the series over again)
-Supernatural Season 2 (again, I rarely have time to sit through an hour-long episode of a TV show, so I'm a bit behind)
-ALF Season 1 (first saw the show in Punta Cana on Nick@Nite and loved it. Since they don't show it in the U.S. I had no other choice than to buy the DVDs. Watched a few episodes and I was over it. I still like it a lot though. Been workin' on this one since the summer of 2006!).

Has anyone seen Margaret Cho in All-American Girl? I liked this show when it came out, but I haven't seen it in a long time. I'm starting the DVD set right now.
The father is Clyde Kusatsu (the amazing Cameo Man), the mom is Jodi Long, the brother is B.D. Wong (Law & Order: SVU, Mulan) and the grandmother is Amy Hill (Mrs. Kwan from The Cat in the Hat, she was also in Lilo & Stitch.) This cast is GREAT... Of course, I haven't got to the point where the network decided to get rid of all of the Asian actors.
Evidently, they made Margaret Cho lose about 30-40 pounds in about 2 weeks before the first episode, and she had some major kidney problems after the first episode finished filming.
They said she "wasn't Asian enough," and hired an Asian Consultant to make her more Asian. Then, they got rid of the other Asian cast members and put Margaret in with a bunch of white friends. After that, they said she was "too Asian."
