I have always dreamed of having my wedding in WDW but I don't think that will happen, so I hope one day I will have my honeymoon at WDW. I was wondering if anyone has ever had a weddin in WDW and if so would you share about your experince.

They don't allow people to have the actual wedding within the theme parks (some malarkey about how it detracts from the already-magical experience for guests), but there is a non-denominational wedding pavilion at Grand Floridian in WDW. However, they do allow for *proposals* to take place in the parks. Some go all out and use the Cinderella carriage, a glass slipper, and the Fantasyland band, while others opt for a quiet little affair by the wishing well.

You could probably learn more from Disney Weddings.

Edit: Sorry Escapay...I didn't realize you already provided a link but I agree that it's got a lot of great information on a different variety of weddings you can have at WDW.

However, the website shows that the weddings are not just limited to the Grand Floridian Wedding Plaza. (Though it is probably considered the cheapest and simplest setup for a Disney Wedding).

You CAN get married in places such as the Cinderella Castle or in the World Showcase in Epcot (I think after parks hours or through some other arrangment that doesn't interfere with regular park operations). But I'm sure it takes a lot of planning and a lot of money to make this so. You would have to make arrangements with Disney Weddings for any dream wedding idea you have probably a year in advance. And there are different kinds of theme weddings you can have depending on the resort you're at. For example you can have a beach-style wedding at Yacht & Beach Club Resort.

So far I like the idea of having a wedding in the Cinderella Castle and in the Japan Pavilion in Epcot.

You might even consider talking to the wedding people about other different themed weddings ideas. I would like to see them do an African them styles wedding at the Animal Kingdom Lodge or a South Seas Style wedding at the Polynesian. They're both plausible and would be pretty cool.

It's Disney so I don't see why they wouldn't be open to so many Disney-themed ideas.

I know all this, I was just wanting to hear PERSONAL experinces, just like my post said.

Ah, thanks. I always thought they never allowed it at all, never took into consideration that they could make it an after-hours event.

Well, I know of a personal experience, though I wasn't part of it. When Jane worked in MK she was able to help out with a proposal by the wishing well. I'll tell her to drop by here and relate the story.

Yeah, the proposal was so cute and romantic. It was so spontaneous, too.

A guy randomly came up to me and a fellow castmember and asked what we thought would be a perfect place to propose to his girlfriend. Lucky for the guy, our manager happened to be walking by at that moment and overheard us discussing it.

So, later that night, we got the couple to see the fireworks from the best spot in MK (Main Street hub). As soon as the show finished, the couple and their two friends were escorted by us to Snow White's wishing well.

The girl was confused, but we made up some story about a private opportunity to meet some Disney characters. We got to the wishing well and the guy walked his girlfriend next to the well. On the ledge of the well was a pillow, with Cinderella's glass slipper sitting on top. And on top of the slipper was a ring. He took the ring, got down on one knee and proposed.

The girl cried and yelled "Yes!" and all us CM's threw "pixie dust" everywhere around the couple. As soon as we threw pixie dust, Goofy also came and congratulated the couple. It was the sweetest moment ever.

I don't know if there's ever been another proposal like that. I really hope there has been because who wouldn't want to be proposed to in Disney World?

I'd be doing the proposing. I'd have to time it though so that I show her the ring at the moment that Rick says "Here's looking at you, kid" in the Casablanca scene for The Great Movie Ride.

Of course, I'd have to make sure of several things:
1. That I have a girlfriend who'd be as interested in both Disney and classic films as me

2. That she'd be just as into The Great Movie Ride as I was

3. That Disney doesn't shut down The Great Movie Ride before I want to propose

and finally...

4. That she doesn't misinterpret the Casablanca scene as me wanting to break up with her since Rick and Ilsa pretty much "break up" in the scene

Come to think of it...proposing on The Great Movie Ride doesn't seem as romantic as I thought it'd be. Maybe I'll propose on Haunted Mansion. Nothing says undying love like 999 ghosts...

I vote for Tower of Terror. Although, you might have to keep the ring on a necklace so it doesn't fly out of your hands, above your heads and land on the lap of the old lady sitting behind you. But, think of the hilarious picture you'd have at the end of the attraction!

If it was up to me, I'd propose to her right at the peak of Splash Mountain, then you can actually have her picture taken at that moment after the ride ends.

That is so romantic, my heart was beating as I read it (yeah I know im a dork) I would loved to be proposed to at WDW, or even at one of the WDW hotels!

That's a good idea, but I think it would be romantic if u were porposed to at epcot in France during the fireworks, AHHHH!

How about a cemetery?

Not only can you get married in the parks you can have fireworks and everything too. The receptions can also take place in the parks (even in The Haunted Mansion and The Great Movie Ride). People have had various custom weddings including an Alice in Wonderland themed one and one couple tied the knot in front of Tower of Terror.

As for me, "Commitment Ceremony" isn't good enough so until the magic day (ie never) Florida legalizes gay marriage I'm not having my wedding at WDW.

If I could I'd have the reception in The Haunted Mansion (it's done in the Foyer and Stretching rooms) because it would be so crazy. As for popping the question, I'd like it to be random, but so much that he asks during Act 2 of the Carousel of Progress.
