I first watched JP when I was three and my friend said I had bad parents for letting me watch that at that age. I do not think Jurassic Park is a bad movie to watch at that age and I was never psychologically damaged by it (in fact JP and its sequel were two of my favorite movies as a kid, though I realize the second one sucks now). What age did you first watch Jurassic Park?

When it came out in theaters in 1992. I was four or five, my parents saw it first to make sure it wouldn't traumatize me, and it didn't. It's still one of my favorite movies, and most of the special effects still hold up really well seventeen years later.

I actually like "The Lost World". It's not as good as the first, but it's still a fun movie. It loses steam once the rex gets to San Diego, but I still enjoy it.

Now "Jurassic Park III"... at least the dinosaurs were neat to look at.

I think I first watched the tape when I was about 2 or 3.

I had just barely gotten my drivers license! I had a hard time talking my best friend into seeing it, she was a couple years younger than me and thought it was gonna be scary.

Damn it, now I want to watch it. It's been years since I last saw it! lol

Saw it when it was first released on VHS. I was 13 at the time. I do remember seeing The Lost World in the theater, and watched parents leave with their children at different parts of the movie.

I enjoyed the 2nd film as well, but couldn't make it all the way though the 3rd. It was pretty bad. I probably have seen all of it, but not at one time.

Wait, didn't it come out in 1993?

Anyway, I saw it for the first time in middle school when Thailog let me borrow his DVD (He's a real-life friend of mine I talked into joining the forum)

Yeah it came out in 1993.

Around 1994 when I was either five or six.

Well, the second one was OK... the third one, ugh. I saw it, but really didn't like it.

The first one's about 5 times better than either sequel, though

Come to think of it though... I don't think I ever saw all of any of the JP films in full.... I better get on that.

Yep, I remember it was the summer before my senior year.

And now that I really think about it, this film probably had the biggest impact on me back then, more so than any other (outside of any Disney films at least). I loved the "what if" scenario and the special effects are awesome, even now.

I used to have the VHS back in the day and I'm surprised I haven't gotten around to picking it up on DVD yet.

Yeah, right, 1993. I always confuse that. I was five then.

I want to watch it again too. I was always annoyed it never got a two-disc release. It's a pretty solid one disc set, especially for its time (it's one of the first DVDs I bought), but two discs would have given the movie more breathing room.

Also, I love the documentary on the DVD because the footage of James Earl Jones is shot at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History, one of my favorite places back home in Pittsburgh. They've also seriously renovated it in the past few years, so it's an even bigger, better and more accurate exhibit, but it's nice to see the museum I remember from when I was a kid anytime I want on the DVD.

Hah. I actually trusted them when they said that. So I went to Wikipedia and checked... Darn false statements in movies!

And Chaos Theory... is pretty cool, makes sense too.

There's a cool DVD set called the "Adventure Pack", which I bought... it's an exact repacking of all 3 movies, (As in, the discs are identical to the standalone ones), in one box. I think I've seen it for $20.

Yeah, it's funny... I saw that documentary on a VHS (legit standalone release from maybe 1994) at my library... went to watch it, and was like "Wait a minute, this on the DVD!"

At least they didn't do what Disney does and just leave off half the documentaries that have been made over the years

I had The Making of Jurassic Park on a separate laserdisc. I *PRESUME* that is the documentary mentioned that was on VHS and the DVD.

Just sitting here thinking this is one movie I still haven't bought on DVD (Found it surprising that I hadn't picked it up at all). I need to get the Adventure Pack sometime.

I still have my old VHS from the 90s.

I was definitely young... probably somewhere from 5-7 years old.

I loved it though and I definitely wasn't traumatized after watching it (although I have had weird/almost-scary dinosaur dreams )

I dunno, I think it's not a good idea for parents to let their kids watch Jurassic Park when they're like 3... if you want dinosaurs stick to Barney! LOL

Well, parts of Jurassic Park are fine... but it's rated PG-13 for a reason and it might scare little kids... not to mention they wouldn't understand the plot at all.
